Technical Director - Structural Engineering_

This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a **Technical Director - Structural Engineering** to serve as Technical Lead for Alternative Delivery Projects in our **Herndon, Virginia** office.The successful candidate will have extensive experience in procurement of transit, highway and infrastructure projects using Alternative Delivery methods (P3, DB, CM/GC). The successful candidate will also have extensive experience delivering traditional projects (project specific and on-call task orders) for Federal, State, and municipal clients.Your Impact+ Lead proposal preparation and business development activities.+ Lead projects with all aspects of Transportation Design from conceptual and preliminary engineering to final design.+ Responsible for maintaining schedule, budget, quality and profitability of assigned projects+ Coordinate with other design disciplines.+ Prepare plans, specifications, and bid packages.+ Ensuring that production of specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.+ Coordinate with internal and external clients.+ Create effective long-term client/contractor relationships+ Support business development initiatives.+ Representing WSP's alternative delivery and structural engineering capabilities in assigned locations, markets, and at industry associations.+ Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.+ Provide training to staff- level engineers+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.Who You Are**Required Qualifications**+ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or closely related discipline.+ 10+ years of relevant post education experience in the design and preparation of construction contract documents for transportation projects.+ Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia+ Understanding and familiarity with AASHTO and VDOT Design Guidelines and Standards.+ Proficiency in design software including Larsa, Midas, MDX, CSI Bridge, STAAD, OpenBridge Designer, Descus, Merlin-Dash, Mathcad, and Microstation.+ Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.+ Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.+ Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.**Preferred Qualifications:**+ Master’s Degree in Engineering.+ Strong relationships with Alternative Delivery project Owners, Clients and Contractors is strongly desired.\#LI-MG1**About WSP**WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
