JOB SUMMARYThe Tribal Communications Administrator leads development, management, and advancement of the internal and external communication programs for the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe.MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis list is intended only to illustrate the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or logical assignment to the position.+ Manage and continuously uplevel the MIT website to ensure content and photos are accurate, user friendly, and relevant+ Serve as the project manager for the annual calendar mailed to all active members+ Develop content, photos, and graphics for MIT’s social media platforms; serve as the main social media manager+ Draft and distribute a monthly e-newsletter to inform all staff of MIT’s latest updates+ Serve as lead project manager, creator, and designer for the hard-copy news publication mailed to MIT Community.+ Design and produce products including flyers, brochures, advertisements, social media graphics, etc.+ Proactively schedule tours with field representatives to take photos, videos, and gather content to be used for all aspects of MIT’s communications products+ Write professional member and contractor communications+ Provide writing, photography, or other professional development for staff as needed to equip them with the ability to contribute to MIT’s communications needs+ Manage member and public correspondence via the general inbox for IGA Communications.+ Help lead annual Intergovernmental Affair Department Tribal events+ Identify new and innovative ways to engage MIT community members: such as K-12 grade level outreach+ Work with leaders in the development and implementation of organizing campaignsOther Duties:+ Plans, develops and manages annual program budgets, tracking and revising them as necessary, producing periodic budget and program status reports as required.+ Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION(Required and Preferred) :+ 7+ years of successful and increasing communications experience in a medium to large size organization+ Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field+ Intermediate level ability to take photos/videos on a smartphone and/or digital cameraPreferred Qualifications:+ Master’s degree in communications or a related field+ Advanced photography skills, or willingness to advance your current level of skills+ Video editing skills, or willingness to advance your current level of skills+ Media relations+ Community outreach+ Experience working in Native American communities.SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITIONSkills:+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills+ Establish rapport with staff and members in widely diversified ethnic, social, and economic groups+ Leadership with the proven ability to inspire, coach, counsel, direct, and mentor, earning the trust, confidence, and respect of members and MIT staff+ Well-developed time management skills that allow for the coordination/prioritization of multiple assignments and competing deadlines+ Ability to work and act both independently and as part of a team+ Computer and technologically competent and familiar with Microsoft Office products, InDesign, Canva, Photoshop, current social media platforms used for MIT including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn; have an aptitude for identifying emerging platforms to elevate MIT’s audience reach and influence+ Quick learner possessing strong interest working with tribal communities.+ Comfortable with public speaking and able to communicate with groups, both friendly and hostile+ Research and analytical skills necessary to assess, plan, and implement effective projects+ Unequivocally support the administration in the implementation of its policies and objectives+ Working knowledge of MIT projects/activitiesKnowledge of:+ Associated Press StylePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class.
