For more information visit our website at www.simonandschuster.com.We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Associate Editor to join our editorial team at Atria Books assisting the VP and Publisher at One Signal.**Key Responsibilities:**+ **Manuscript Development:** Assist in the acquisition and evaluation of manuscripts, providing insightful feedback and working with authors to develop their work to its fullest potential.+ **Editorial Process:** Manage the editorial process from manuscript to final book, including structural editing, line editing, copyediting, and proofreading.+ **Author Relations:** Serve as the primary point of contact for authors, offering guidance and support throughout the publishing process. Collaborate with authors to refine their voice and vision.+ **Market Research:** Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and potential acquisition opportunities. Provide recommendations to the editorial team based on market insights.+ **Project Management:** Oversee the production schedule of assigned titles, ensuring deadlines are met and coordinating with other departments such as design, production, marketing, and sales.+ **Acquisitions Support:** Assist senior editors in identifying and acquiring new projects. Participate in acquisition meetings and author calls, prepare pitch materials, and negotiate contracts.+ **Collaboration:** Work closely with other members of the editorial team, as well as production, publicity and marketing, sharing insights and contributing to the overall success of all the departments.+ **Proofreading:** Review proofs and galleys for accuracy, consistency, and quality.+ **Content Strategy:** Contribute to the development of content strategies that align with the company’s publishing goals and resonate with the target audience.+ **Administrative Duties:** Handle various administrative tasks such as tracking submissions, maintaining editorial calendars, and preparing editorial reports for the One Signal imprint.**Qualifications:**+ Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.+ 2-3 years of experience in book publishing, with a focus on editorial work.+ Experience with both fiction and non-fiction is a plus.+ Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.+ Strong organizational and time-management skills.+ Proficiency in MS Office Suite and editorial software (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, InDesign).+ A deep understanding of the book publishing process, market trends, and genre-specific knowledge.Simon & Schuster US is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) including disability/vet.
