The City of Somerville is seeking a responsible, creative, and flexible on call City TV Producer who possess graphic arts experience and wants to join a team committed to creating visually appealing Somerville-programs for the community.Essential Functions:The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various type of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.+ Responsible for creating graphic arts, design and photography for the City TV and Communications department.+ Responsible for producing and recording City Council and School Committee meetings in the Council Chamber control room.+ Must possess a creative mindset and editing skills.+ Must have experience in computer arts and graphic software.+ Must have reliable transportation to travel to City events for filming.+ Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes of practice and health and safety laws.+ Ability to work an on-call schedule and have flexible working hours.+ Must possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.+ Performs other duties as assigned.RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in communications or in arts is preferred, but not required. At least 1 year of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.Knowledge, Abilities and Skill:Knowledge: Knowledge of current video equipment and basic filming operations. Knowledge of graphic arts, tools, equipment, materials, and processes including printing and photography. General knowledge of federal and state laws, and town by-laws as they pertain to the department’s operations.Ability: Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and thoroughly. Ability to collaborate with different departments to provide graphic arts, designs, and visual aid.Skill: Must possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. Skills in video editing, video production, and troubleshooting basic video set-ups. When in the field, more physical skill may be required to accomplish the duties required.Motor SkillsDuties are largely mental rather than physical, but the job may occasionally require minimal motor skills for activities such as moving objects, operating a telephone, personal computer and/or most other office equipment including word processing, filing, and sorting of papers.Visual Skills:Visual demands are required to perform the work.
