This role serves as the service owner for the suite of IAM services and collaborates with other ISC colleagues and school and center colleagues to set the technical direction of the IAM program and suite of tools available to the campus community so as to best align with current goals, provide outstanding data security, and stay current with ever-changing technology needs. This role is critical to be responsive to the needs of clients; be a champion of access management service needs within ISC and across campus; and develop approaches to continually improve the IAM group's efficiency, reliability, repeatability, and transparency.The IT Technical Director is also responsible for managing the staff for this team, supporting them in their endeavors, managing performance, and helping to grow team members’ technical expertise and exposure within the University community. As this position has overall responsibility for many key, mission-critical services, they must be able to accurately gauge technical and security risk, act expeditiously to make decisions when needed and prioritize customer-impact and maintaining service levels. The IT Technical Director must be technically proficient in a broad range of different technologies and be capable of synthesizing and integrating competing priorities and objectives to make measured decisions as to unit goals and objectives.Job DescriptionJob Responsibilities+ Provide strategic and operational leadership for delivery of services to support the identity and access management needs and goals of the university community.+ Lead, manage, and mentor the IAM staff with a focus on creating and maintaining a high-performing team that is focused, technologically forward-looking and results oriented. Provide leadership development and mentoring for managers on the team.+ Provide oversight for a team of highly technical subject matter experts (SMEs) for Access management as it pertains to current operation, design, and integration of newer IAM technologies as part of the IAM Program at Penn.+ Plan and oversee execution of large technology initiatives including regular cadence technology refreshes and new or innovative technologies for campus use.+ Maintain financial responsibility for services in the portfolio of the department including costing and viability assessment. Support overall management and financial stewardship for the - Technology Services budget.+ Report on metrics, goals, and participate in budgetary planning and management.+ Frequently responsible for large projects and programs that impact the campus community and carry significant financial and technical implications that may run over multiple years.+ Perform other duties as assignedQualificationsRequired:+ Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.+ 5-7 years of successful work experience in IT management/leadership.+ Ability to lead a highly skilled technical staff fluent in specialized technology related to defining user identity and managing access controls.+ Experience providing mission-critical IT services reliably and on-budget.
