Under limited supervision, supervises the daily activities of staff involved in the operations of the County's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program clinic.

Hours:

M-F, 8a - 5p; additional hours as required (one Saturday per month)Example of Duties

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Provides exceptional customer service and upholds clinic standard when servicing clients.Maintains clinic flow and prioritizes clinic responsibilities.Upholds WIC State and Local Agency policy.Certifies applicant eligibility according to WIC policies.Provides nutrition education to participants by individual counseling or group classes.Determines approval for non-contract or special formula issuance; obtains additional approval as needed.Prepares reports for the WIC Program Manager as requested.Performs the work of WIC Clerk as necessary.Participates in clinic quality management activities.Promotes breastfeeding to clients.May require travel to different clinics throughout the County.May serve as the Infection Control Designee or Quality Management committee member.Attends and participates in meetings and conferences as required.Participates in agency outreach as required.Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Experience and Training Guidelines:Eligible as a Certifying Authority, per WIC policy: Registered or licensed Dietitian, Degreed Nutritionist, Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, including one year of supervisory or management experience in nutrition program services; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

Knowledge of:

Applicable local, state and Federal statutes, rules, codes and regulations governing WIC program operations.Clinical nutrition knowledge.Principles and practices of effective employee supervision.Department policies, procedures and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.Skill in:Bilingual preferred.Supervising the work of others.Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, external public agencies and organizations, community organizations, physician's offices, vendors, suppliers, program applicants and participants and the general public.Using initiative, discretion and decision making within established procedures, guidelines and rules.Defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.Building effective work teams and providing effective customer service.Operating a personal computer and various software applications.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Registered or Licensed Dietitian, Degreed Nutritionist, Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse. Or any other qualifications deemed appropriate as determined by Human Resources.Valid Texas Driver's License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Work is typically performed in an office work environment. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. Exposure to communicable diseases is possible. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
