The Designer creates detailed 2D and 3D drawings of oil and gas facilities, using AutoCAD and CADWorx software. Develops new drawings and revisions to company drawings such as PFDs, PIDs, Standard Drawings, Facility Drawings, etc. This role supports various departments such as operations, engineering, tech services, etc. The Designer ensures company drawings are current and meet both Plains and Industry Standards.

This position requires travel to job sites for walkdowns, as-builts, facility planning, and related tasks. The role includes managing a variety of diverse tasks, adapting to shifting priorities, and working on multiple projects simultaneously, often with tight deadlines.

Job Responsibilities

Partners with Project Engineering Teams, Operations, Tech Services, and other departments as required.Completes 3D models and drawings for a variety of requests, developing and completing drawing packages for IFA (Issued for Approval), IFB (Issued for Bid) and IFC (Issued for Construction) in accordance with Plains and Industry Standards.Create and revise 3D models and associated drawings for company standards and specifications.Involved in creating, maintaining, implementing redlines/revisions of facility record drawings.Develops as-builts, including the full process from field walkdown to implementing into CAD drawings.Develops drawings of various types: Plot plans, orthographic, isometric, sections & details, process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, etc. including the drafting level.Conduct quality QA/QC reviews of drawings and drawing packages.Examine and validate piping models, drawings, and layout plans for quality and compliance.Interpret and comply with company and industry piping design standards and specifications.Utilize Company's document management system.Estimated travel requirement is 25%.Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

Preferred educational background includes associate degree or higher, or comparable technical degree; particularly in fields such as computer-aided design, piping/mechanical technology, civil/structural design, electrical, or a similar technical discipline.10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical/piping drafting and designAdditional Qualifications: candidates with multidisciplinary experience, in disciplines such as civil, structural or electrical design/drafting will be given favorable consideration.Knowledgeable of ASME B31.3 and B31.4 Piping Codes, material nomenclature/specification, symbology and comprehends technical drawings such as P&IDs and construction drawings. Proficient in the use of the latest versions of CAD Systems (AutoCAD and CADWorx) and understands adequate spacing requirements for equipment and piping layout.Must be proficient in both 2D and 3D design and drafting, able to work with x-ref supported drawing files, as well as write/edit piping specs in CADWorxExperienced in the design and operation of pipeline systems and booster stations, with a strong understanding of measurement equipment, pumps, tanks, and facility piping.Able to create field sketches for as-building.Must have effective communication skills, written & verbal, work with minimal supervision, and simultaneously manage multiple projects to meet scheduled deadlines.Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges.Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.Shows critical and creative thinking, and problem solving bringing forward solutions.Knowledge and experience using Windows operating systems and Electronic Document Management Systems.A valid driver's license and cleared criminal background check, along with satisfactory references, are required.
