The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment's mission is to support and strengthen New York City's creative economy and make it accessible to all. The agency currently comprises four divisions: the Film Office, which coordinates film and television production in public places; NYC Media, the largest municipal television and radio broadcasting entity in the country; Creative Sector Programs, which supports workforce development and the film, television, theater/live performance, music, publishing, advertising and digital content industries; and the Press Credentials Office, which issues press cards. NYC Media is the City's official broadcast network and media production group. NYC Life, the City's flagship channel offers programming that informs, educates, and entertains New Yorkers about the City's diverse people, neighborhoods, services, attractions, and activities. Accessible both over-the-air and via 7 different cable carriers, NYC Media reaches approximately 18 million people in a 50-mile viewing radius available 24/7. NYC Gov, the City's municipal channel, provides government transparency from the chambers of City Hall, live City Council coverage, City Planning Commissions and more. WNYE 91.5 FM Radio provides NPR news and talk, world music, and local community programming, reaching more than 12 million listeners within its 40-mile radius.

Under varying degrees of direction, with varying degrees of latitude for independent action and decision, the Broadcast & IT Support Engineer is expected to support and maintain an active 24/7/365 broadcast facility which includes master control, transmission site, and various interconnected production and/or post-production facilities.

Responsibilities will include:-Installation, repair and maintenance of state of the art broadcast equipment;-Engineer will work with High Definition video play out servers, routers, automation systems and KVM systems;-Maintain broadband connections that operate between master control and transmitters;-Knowledge of IT assistance in peer-to-peer file-sharing protocols and remote desktop applications;-Work closely with the engineers/operators at Master Control Facility, TV technical team members, and NYC OTI to troubleshoot and resolve broadcast/multimedia systems and computerissues;-Provide database maintenance and support;-Represent MOME in professional, dynamic, multi-cultural environments and effectively interface with broadcast personnel (e.g., master control operators and supervisors, traffic andprogramming staff and managers, etc.) in a professional manner;-Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.

HOURS/SHIFTDay - Due to the necessary support duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in voice telecommunications (telephone, radio, microwave, fiber optic and cellular service) telecommunications technology, electronics, physics, and/or planning and analysis of electronic systems, and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, and/or administrative duties in a voice telecommunications or closely-related electronics planning, electronics management, and/or electronics service environment; or2. An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 semester credits in voice telecommunications (telephone, radio, microwave, fiber optic and cellular service), telecommunications technology, electronics, physics, and/or planning and analysis of electronic systems and two years of experience as described in "1" above; or3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and three years of experience as described in "1" above; or4. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. A college education may be substituted for experience on the basis of six months of experience as described in "1" above for each 30 semester credits of undergraduate college education including or supplemented by 6 semester credits in voice telecommunication (telephone, radio, microwave, fiber optic and cellular service), telecommunications technology, electronics, physics, and/or planning and analysis of electronic systems for a maximum of two years credit. However, all candidates must have at least a four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of the experience as described in "1" above.

Special Note - Additional Requirements for Assignment Level IV

To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, at least two additional years of full-time experience as follows: (1) As a Telecommunications Associate (Voice)-Assignment Level I, II, and III working for the City of New York; or(2) Performing analytical, planning, operational, technical, and/or administrative duties in a voice telecommunications, electronics planning, electronics management, and/or electronics service environment, one year of which must have been specialized work in a consultative or supervisory capacity.
