SMX is seeking a Project Manager - Event Planner to support USINDOPACOM J69 Partner Interoperability & Engagements division. This position is onsite at Camp H.M. Smith Marine Corps Base in Hawaii.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Independently execute and monitor project activities.Engage offices within the customer organization to address mission requirements.Relay pertinent information to relevant stakeholders by collaborating closely with team members and provide briefings to senior officials when necessary.Manage changes to scope, cost, and schedule of project work.Prepare and update project plans and status reports for briefings.Coordinate cross-functional meetings of personnel related to the project.Establish effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.Update and maintain production and quality metrics for assigned projects.Work with customer and partners to problem-solve and facilitate issues and situations.Collaborate with military and defense clients to plan and design events that align with their objectives, ensuring attention to detail and adherence to military protocol.Identify suitable venues for military events, considering factors such as security, capacity, and accessibility, while coordinating with relevant authorities for approvals.Oversee event logistics, including transportation, equipment, and security arrangements, to ensure the smooth flow of events.Demonstrate a strong understanding of military customs and protocol, including flag etiquette, seating arrangements, and the handling of military honors.Liaise with vendors and contractors to secure necessary services, such as catering, audiovisual equipment, and decorations, ensuring they meet military standards.Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial constraints.Supervise event setup, execution, and breakdown, ensuring that all activities occur according to the established timeline and military standards.Identify potential risks and contingencies for military events, developing plans to mitigate any issues that may arise.Ensure the comfort and satisfaction of attendees, including VIPs and senior military officials, by providing exceptional service and support.Conduct post-event evaluations to assess the success of each event, gather feedback, and make recommendations for improvements.Required Skills & Experience Required Clearance: Active SecretBA/BS in Business, Engineering, or a related technical field. Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, or a related field preferred. Associate degree and additional experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's.Strong knowledge of military customs, traditions, and etiquette.Minimum of 5-10 years of technical project management or military event planning experience.Proficiency in event planning software and tools.Strong communication, briefing, and writing skills; ability to communicate in a professional manner in person, by telephone, and through written correspondence.Ability to complete tasks within required timeframes with no supervision.Expert at the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Project.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Exceptional organizational and project management skills.25% travel at a minimum.Desired Skills & Experience
