Is this your next job Read the full description below to find out, and do not hesitate to make an application.The Administrator, Communications will monitor and track the agency’s news coverage and social media as we raise Save the Children’s profile among key audiences in the United States, and help pitch the agency’s programs and expertise to news media. You will provide timely, data-driven insights and media-savvy support to senior staff and internal stakeholders, and consistently identify story pitches for target media around breaking news, calendar and campaign moments. In this role, you will also build media lists, research and report media trends, and assist the communications team in uncovering new and innovative ways to highlight our work.What You’ll Be Doing

(Essential Duties)Monitoring and Reporting – 50%Utilize monitoring tools to track Save the Children brand mentions, power of voice and share of voice in news media – as well as news-aided visits to Save the Children’s website and social amplification of Save the Children news coverage.Track and analyze Save the Children’s social media accounts – and Save the Children mentions in social media – using monitoring and listening tools.Create insightful news coverage and social media reports for key internal stakeholders.Optimize and maintain monitoring and analytics tools, consistently working with colleagues and vendor representatives to ensure Save the Children has the most comprehensive, up-to-date systems in place.Develop and maintain accessible media coverage archives.Media Relations – 30%Identify Save the Children-focused news media pitches around breaking news, calendar and campaign moments.Generate earned media through pitching targeted local, state and national journalists.Proactively build and strengthen relationships with journalists from target media outlets.Coordinate and schedule media interviews and help prepare Save the Children spokespeople for interviews.Respond to press inquiries as needed.Serve as weekend media on call for breaking news and urgent media inquiries approximately once a month.Media Operations and Research – 20%Build media lists for key media moments and rapid onset emergencies.Research the news industry, media outlets and journalists to help identify media trends and inform media strategy, proactive media outreach, and thought leadership opportunities.Administrative support around event-planning, tracking budget, and other duties as assigned.Required QualificationsMinimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 2 years of relevant experience or education.Familiarity with media and social media monitoring/analytics/research tools, such as Onclusive, Muck Rack and Digimind.Demonstrated understanding of basic principles of media relations/PR.Demonstrated attention to detail.Experience pitching and interacting with journalists.Demonstrated problem solver with proven successful organizational skills.Willingness and ability to work outside of normal office hours as necessitated by breaking emergencies.Professional proficiency in MS Office suite.Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.Preferred QualificationsExperience preparing spokespeople for media interviews.Knowledge of multimedia asset gathering.Experience in international settings.Foreign language skills, particularly in Spanish.CompensationSave the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target hourly pay for this position is $22.07 – $24.66.Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target hourly pay for this position is $20.02 – $22.38.Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target hourly pay for this position is $17.98 – $20.10.The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location. Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.
