Read on to fully understand what this job requires in terms of skills and experience If you are a good match, make an application.Director of Facility Engineering is responsible for the overalloperation of the Support Services Departments and the appearance andworking order of all Community Memorial Health System (CMHS) buildings(CMH, OVCH and Clinics). This position works independently and in ateam focused environment. Responsibilities may include but are notlimited to maintaining the exterior of the building, parking lot, andcommon areas, maintaining all equipment in patient rooms, conductingmonthly safety inspections and training the staff on safety andemergency procedures, and working with vendors. May respond toemergencies, and work with corporate maintenance on special remodelingprojects or capital expenditure needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Toensure effective and constant communication within CMHS of allmaintenance projects, construction, public safety and related issues.To serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team, Physical Environment, and Buildings & Grounds Committee.Coordinate the selection, training, development and evaluation of all Facility supervisors and staff.Collaborate with the Director of Rooms to foster a cohesive team environment between the Rooms Division and Engineering staff.Manage all the internal and externally contracted vendors and staff involved in grounds, facilities, and safety operations.Overseeand direct the planning, design, development, construction, andalteration of physical facilities at all CMHS locations.Develop and implement quality control programs.Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.Work with architects, OSHPD, building code officials, planning/zoning officials and community design committees.Development and implement energy management and conservation programs.Maintain blue prints, specification and operation/maintenance manuals for all buildings, systems and equipment on campus.Developand manage the facility annual operating budget as well as capitalexpenditure pertaining to facilities and development; monitor individualcapital projects ensuring that costs, timing, and contract requirementsare met.Preparebid documents and specifications for capital and operating projects,and direct and oversee any construction and renovation activities andinventory control.Renew and approve invoices and requests to assure payments are made in accordance with contractual agreements.Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local codes and regulationsEstablishand implement short-and-long range organizational goals, objectives,strategic plans, policies, and operational procedures.Stay abreast of Facilities Management best practices, new technologies, market dynamics and trends.Wears name tag identification and is aware of role in minimizing security incidents.Follows the facility’s protocols for Hazardous Materials and Waste Program.Participates in disaster drills as appropriate.Participates in fire drills as appropriate.Responds to utility failures per Department policy and adheres to Lock-out/Tag-out policies where appropriate.Communicatesdepartment, facility, and CMHS information at staff meetings, grouppresentations and through written memos.Participates and attends CMH and OVCH departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs, as appropriate.Completesall daily, weekly or monthly reports as outlined in policies andprocedures on a timely basis meeting all prescribed deadlines.Performs other tasks that may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:ManagesChief Engineer and also directs and supervises all employees at the CMHand OVCH Facilities departments. Is responsible for the overalldirections, coordination and evaluation of these areas. Carries outsupervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Health System’spolicies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing,hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work;appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;addressing complaints and resolving problems. The Director ofFacilities Management has a primary office at CMH however 15% of time isallocated to OVCH oversight with a minimum of two (2) hours of monthlyonsite commitment.

Required:Bachelor’s Degree in field of architecture, engineering, facilities management or similar related fieldEight(8) or more years of experience in facilities management/leadership,construction administration and project management preferably inhealthcare or related services environmentExperiencein the application of various building and life safety codes/standardsmanaged by local, state, federal, and national regulatory agenciesPreferred:Master’s DegreeASHE Certified Health Care Facilities Manager (CHFM)ASHE Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP)
