Engineering Manager - VR Animation/Simulation

interested in leading cross-functional teams for building immersive software and hardware prototypes to support civil, commercial, and national security space programs. From animations and desktop applications to immersive visualizations, EAD evaluates and creates unique visual experiences aimed at helping decision makers understand critical data and analysis.The Engineering Manager position in the Immersive Technology and Animation Studio (ITAS) section will lead efforts focusing on Extended Reality (XR) experiences for space testing and training, photogrammetry support, and data-driven storytelling. These deliverables, prototypes, and associated lessons learned are crucial for mission success.Work Model This position is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA, which requires 100% onsite work.What You'll Be Doing

This is a dual engineering and management role: Lead individuals in the organization and lead project teams. Contribute to growth of the Visualization Immersive Technology Laboratory and technical development/research efforts while ensuring personnel success.Provide technical leadership, planning, and task execution to deliver modern visualization applications and animations, typically developed with commercial game engine software.Lead and mentor junior staff members to develop mixed reality space exploration and education experiences and incorporate cutting-edge technology.Maintain awareness and build collaborations with academia, customer-facing groups at Aerospace, government, vendors, and other FFRDCs/UARCs to provide research ideas and develop new prototypes.Represent ITAS as a technical point of contact to customer-facing groups at Aerospace.Work closely with customer-facing teams to facilitate solutions for existing and emerging challenges.Partner with management to develop and execute the technical strategy for the section goals and associated laboratory.Recommend staffing needs for the organization and lead/assist in the recruiting process.What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements:

Engineering Manager - VR Animation/SimulationBachelor's Degree from an accredited university in computer science, mathematics or another related discipline.Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience directly related to rapid prototyping, software development, immersive technology, or similar fields.Expertise in at least one of the following topic areas: immersive technology development, software development, game design or professional animation.Demonstrated ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders regarding project status, technical accomplishments, and proposals.Demonstrated experience with Object Oriented software development languages (e.g. C#, C/C++).Familiarity with commercial game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.Experience with agile software development process.Proven ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal and working relationships with corporate staff, peers, management, customers, and contractors.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for interactions at all organizational levels.Willing to travel domestically up to 10%.Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
