We value the opportunity to consider those who believe they have the necessary skills and ambition to succeed at NREL.****Job Description**_The Data, Analysis and Visualization group in NREL’s Computational Science Center has an immediate opening for a Data and Visualization Scientist to execute a cross-disciplinary research portfolio in data science and visualization with emphases in applied topology, visual analytics, and knowledge discovery in large-scale computational data.__The successful candidate will help to develop custom scalable software to model, analyze, and visualize complex energy system domains. The candidate will integrate these software tools with scientific and engineering workflows for decision support and data analysis. These workflows will include the use of state-of-the-art high-performance parallel computing (HPC) and visualization facilities. The candidate will evaluate and communicate results through written research reports for publication and presentation at conferences. Additionally, the candidate will participate in regular group meetings, seminars, and in the development of grant proposals for new research directions._.**Basic Qualifications**Relevant PhD . Or, relevant Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience . Or, relevant Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience . Demonstrates complete understanding and wide application of scientific technical procedures, principles, theories and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Demonstrates leadership in one or more areas of team, task or project lead responsibilities. Demonstrated experience in management of projects. Very good technical writing, interpersonal and communication skills.*** Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.****Additional Required Qualifications**_The successful candidate will bring a solid background in data science, topological data analysis, machine learning methods, and graph-learning techniques. Additionally, the candidate will have experience in scientific visualization, including a working understanding of visual analytics, human-computer interaction, and high-dimensional data visualization techniques. The candidate should be willing to work in an interdisciplinary field, together with computer scientists, engineers, and domain experts. The candidate will possess strong programming and algorithm developments skills and have programming experience in one or more HPC programming languages (i.e., Python, C++)._**Preferred Qualifications**_The ideal candidate will bring:_· _Expertise in topological data analysis, computational geometry, and applications within graph learning_· _Expertise in data visualization of scientific datasets_· _Demonstrated software engineering experience_· _Knowledge or familiarity with supply chain analytics_· _Knowledge or familiarity with materials science_.**Job Application Submission Window**The anticipated closing window for application submission is up to 30 days and may be extended as needed.**Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)**Job Profile: Researcher III / Annual Salary Range: $79,600 - $143,300NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
