Job Description:The Security System Designer will successfully obtain technical ownership of Security System Solutions from design and estimating through post-sales engineering. This individual will be an integral member of collaborative selling and delivery strategy, interfacing with sales, as well as customer support in design, implementation, and installation of security solutions. Responsible for providing Pre and Post Sales engineering support to sales and technical staff. Accurately determine the necessary hardware and software, quantities, pricing and labor needed to complete the project according to company and customer expectations, (e.g., scope.)Essential Job Functions:• Support sales team in collaborative selling model as the Integrated Security Systems Designer.• Attend client discovery meetings and prepare and present application or design concepts.• Conduct thorough site surveys to identify requirements for security solutions.• Provide proof of concept and explanations to sales staff (Bluebeam drawings, etc.).• Provide technical assistance for estimating staff.• Provide technical assistance for sales staff.• Be responsible for technical scope in customer proposals.• Provide support for bid projects, pre-bid meetings, RFP responses, product research, etc.• Adhere to project scope/budget• Provide post‐sales engineering and support on sold projects.• Assist in the preparation and review of shop drawings.• Generate RFI's and other formal correspondence if required• “Value Engineering” when applicable• Create and edit drawings (CAD, Bluebeam, Visio) and all other support documentation (power calculations, etc.) as required.• Perform final review of equipment selection for equipment release• Provide technical support to internal and external customers.• Provide high end technical support for customer related service issues.• Manage vendor relationships by addressing product updates, product problems, and high-end troubleshooting issues.• Understand general concept in other Life Safety Systems, i.e., Fire Alarm• Assist with training internal technical and/or sales staff on new products and/or systems.• Actively participate in personal and professional development and maintain knowledge of current and new technologies that the company offers.• Attend industry conferences and events to stay current on Security System technology.• Provide periodic presentations on Security System market trends and conditions to management and other team members.• Update customer files.• Responsible for reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.• Full compliance with company's and customer's safety program.• Other duties as required or assigned by company management.Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work well with other people and be proficient with computers.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized• A desire to further one's career in ASIS, ICS, etc., or other organizations is critical• Proficiency in the use of personal computers including such programs as MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and Outlook• Product research skills including use of; internet, catalogs, manufacturer and distributor tech, webinars and seminars• Ability to demonstrate planning, organizing and implementing skills which allow the successful completion of a project by a specific due dateExperience/Education:• Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent• Required: Valid Driver's License and clean driving record• Required: 3+ years' experience in the Life Safety & Security System industry.• Required: Technical experience in video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and IP networkingPhysical Demands/Working Conditions:• Regular and Timely Attendance• Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 4 hours) without a break• Position requires bending, twisting, stooping, climbing• Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally• Position requires pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds frequently and 40 pounds occasionally• May be exposed to temperature changes, heights, small spaces including confined spaces• Ability to distinguish colors and use hands for repetitive fine manipulation frequently• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus• Must pass initial and random substance abuse tests
