You’ll learn more about this during the recruitment process.JOB SUMMARY:Universal Parks and Resorts Consumer Insights is the core research function charged with designing, implementing, and interpreting primary mixed method research to provide the organization with information on past, current, and future guests’ experiences, sentiments, and profiles for both UOR and USH. The Consumer Insights team supports stakeholder groups throughout the organization, including Marketing & Sales, Operations, Entertainment, Creative, Product Planning, and Finance, providing data critical to immediate needs as well as mid and long-range planning efforts.The Senior Analyst of Ethnographic Research will collaborate in designing, conducting, and analyzing mixed methods studies on guest-related topics, working with our Field, Quantitative, and Systems Teams to collect new primary data, curate existing data, and synthesize a range of internal and external information to produce credible, thorough, holistic deliverables that inform business decisions.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Analysis, Interpretation, and Presentation of Findings+ Use appropriate qualitative analytic frameworks (e.g., discourse analysis, applied thematic analysis) to interpret the meaning and relevance of qualitative information to specific business problems.+ Compare data collected from multiple sources to identify patterns, explore discrepancies, and triangulate findings.+ Synthesize data across multiple sources to provide a cohesive, holistic, and credible perspective on a topic.+ Present findings using multiple media (e.g., decks, documents, videos, orally) to clearly and effectively communicate research findings to specific audiences.Qualitative Coding+ Conduct manual (human) coding of data collected from interviews and focus groups, survey responses, digital forums/sites/platforms, and observations using traditional qualitative coding processes, including open, axial, and selective coding to create and assign codes.Data Collection+ Conduct semi-structured and unstructured interviews.+ Moderate online and in-person focus group discussions.+ Observe a diverse range of processes and behaviors.+ Review digital landscapes (websites, blogs, social media platforms, etc.) using systematic approaches.Research Design, including collaboration in the+ Selection of appropriate methods to meet research objective.+ Creation of study-specific research instruments (e.g., interview, focus group guides, training materials, observation rubrics, survey questions, etc.+ Coordination with relevant stakeholders to address scheduling and logistical requirements.+ Development of realistic but efficient research timelines.+ Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.+ Perform other duties as assignedEDUCATION:+ Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, Human Factors, Market Research, or other Social Science required;+ Master’s degree preferred.EXPERIENCE:+ 4+ years’ experience conducting and analyzing qualitative research using a wide array of techniques (e.g., in-depth interviews, observation, focus groups, content analysis, cognitive interviews, etc.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Required+ Demonstrated experience collecting qualitative data using various techniques (e.g., interviews, observations, focus groups).+ Demonstrated experience using applied thematic analysis, content analysis, discourse/rhetorical analysis, or other grounded theory approaches to derive meaningful categories from qualitative data.+ Evidence of advanced critical thinking skills, as demonstrated by the ability to recognize patterns, develop logical inferences, assess the relative weight of different types of data, and use data to solve problems.+ Strong interpersonal skills, an ability to build rapport and trust quickly, and demonstrated experience having to initiate and guide conversations with diverse audiences.+ Excellent command of the English language (written and oral) required; fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred.+ Advanced presentation skills, including public speaking, slide deck development.+ Ability to work with a high degree of independence, but also to excel when working on a team.+ Success managing competing priorities and comfort adapting to changing timelines and needs.Your talent, skills and experience will be rewarded with a competitive compensation package.Universal is not accepting unsolicited assistance from search firms for this employment opportunity.
