The News Editor organizes and strings together raw footage into cohesive segments for newscasts and other programming. Responsibilities include reviewing assembled footage, making necessary corrections, and determining the specific audio and visual effects required. The role involves operating computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units to produce final products. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, fluency in English, excellent communication skills, and at least two years of experience with video editing equipment. Proficiency with office and video editing equipment is essential.News Editor Essential Duties and RequirementsEssential Duties:+ Organizes and strings together raw footage into cohesive segments for newscasts and other programming.+ Reviews assembled footage to determine if corrections are necessary.+ Trims filmed segments to specified lengths and reassembles segments for maximum story effect.+ Determines specific audio and visual effects required to complete spots.+ Operates computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units.+ Selects and combines the most effective shots of each scene to create a logical, smoothly running story.+ Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, work products, and desired effects.+ Maintains editing equipment.+ Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements:+ High school diploma.+ Fluency in English.+ Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.+ Minimum two years’ experience operating video editing equipment.+ Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.+ Proficiency with video editing equipment.+ Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Nexstar Media Group, Inc.
