This is a remote position servicing FL, GA, SC, NC, and VA.Schedule:Monday - Friday, standard business hoursCompensation:$18-22 hourlyLocation:RemoteImportantIt is important that all Authorization Specialist candidates applying have experience in authorizations and submitting them for multiple locations. While a preference is given to those with experience in a home healthcare or private duty setting, it is not required.Essential Job Functions:+ Manage the patient insurance authorization process required for services requested by the clinical staff.+ Initiate communications with the patient’s insurance carrier upon receiving information from the clinical team for services requiring pre-certification/authorization.+ Work proactively with insurance carriers to ensure that all required information for payment is received in a timely fashion.+ Communicate and advise the clinical team on any changes in insurance companies' reimbursement practices related to the authorization process.+ Ensure submissions are complete with all required information.+ Maintain ongoing communication with the treating clinical team during the authorization process to provide timely updates on the outcomes of the requests for services from insurance carriers.+ Educate and counsel patients on their insurance coverage and explain payment options available to them.+ Communicate issues that may result in a lapse in authorization to the location management.Requirements:+ High school diploma+ 2+ years of related experience, specifically with insurance authorization and submissions+ Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Preferences:+ Bilingual; Spanish speaking a plusOther Skills/Abilities:+ Must adhere to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal+ Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail+ Proven ability to work independently and within a team+ Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines+ Ability to interact collaboratively with other departments and teamsPhysical Requirements:+ Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English+ Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of 25 pounds+ Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting+ Must be able to sit and climb stairs+ Must have visual and hearing acuity+ Must have a strong sense of smell and touchEnvironment:+ Performs duties in an office environment during agency operating hours+ Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditionsOther Duties:+ Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee for this job.
