Current instructors and students are not eligible for consideration, per grant guidelines.Supplemental Instruction is a targeted approach to learning that targets high-risk courses for the purpose of increasing retention and improving grades and pass-rates. The Supplemental Instructor (S.I.) for the Media Studies program facilitates regularly-scheduled, informal review sessions in which students compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and predict test items. The S.I. may also assist the instructor with lab preparation and assisting students with hands-on activities during courses sessions.Examples of Duties+ Provides assistance directly to instructor and students in the classroom+ Assists students with course content review sessions+ Organizes and inventories supplies and equipment.+ Prepares for TV production lab sessions with appropriate equipment+ Meets with course instructors and students to determine necessary TV production training remediation+ Facilitates TV production practice sessions for students by appointmentTypical Qualifications+ Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Media Studies related field of study+ Must be able to lift 30 pounds+ Must have reliable transportation to commute to three campus locations+ Ability to review content+ Knowledge of Microsoft Office products+ Applicants cannot be a current instructor or studentSupplemental InformationTerms of Employment:• Position requires day and evening hours• Position requires completion of Blackboard TrainingPaid sick leave in accordance with NJ Sick Leave LawDefined Contribution Retirement Program (DCRP) (j.gov/treasury/pensions/pension-active-dcrp.shtml)Eligible part-time employees will be enrolled into the DCRP (Defined Contribution Retirement Plan) pension (j.gov/treasury/pensions/pension-active-dcrp.shtml) .
