DescriptionAmazon is seeking an intuitive, high-judgment, self-motivated, and creative communications professional to join our Operations Internal Communications (OIC) team.As an Internal Communications manager, you’ll lead strategic and tactical internal communications for Operations global support functions including (but not limited to) the Global Realty and Procurement organizations. The position will provide strategic communication counsel and support to senior executives, advising on programs, driving thought leadership and supporting business priorities. The position will help amplify the Amazon culture, connecting employees to key moments and priorities.This position will be responsible for creating high impact communications for a world-class global operations team. From storytelling, crafting executive messages to creating employee-facing communications about critical changes, you will be a key partner to leaders and teams within the business.The ideal candidate will have experience building new programs, testing and learning along the way. This individual will have the demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic organization and have a track record of generating results and earning trust with executives. They must be a self-starter and leader with meticulous attention to detail and the proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. They will work across business functions, regions, and all levels of the organization, all the while, prioritizing the employee experience.They must be a team player, able to act independently, have exemplary writing skills, and a talent for developing creative approaches to difficult communications challenges.This role can be based in Nashville, TN; Arlington, VA; or Seattle, WA, with an ability to travel to other Amazon sites globally.Key job responsibilitiesIn this role you will:• Develop strategic and innovative internal communication plans to include writing, reviewing, and managing business-specific updates, leadership messaging, and ad hoc communications• Earn trust, provide expert counsel, and effectively communicate with a wide range of internal stakeholders from Operations associates to executive leaders• Define and manage an executive communications strategy, serve as a content creator to senior executives, including supporting employee-facing events and driving the creation of compelling, executive-level presentation materials.• Partner with leadership to amplify workplace culture and translate business strategy into effective communications.• Maintain solid, cross-functional relationships with key internal stakeholders – from Operations associates to executive leaders• Manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges with an ability to look around corners for trends and risk• Be the employee experience advocate, representing and protecting this through all strategies and decision-making• Work closely with other areas of Worldwide Communications, such as PR and Internal Corporate Communications.• Exercise extremely high judgment, particularly in narrow timeframes.• Roll up sleeves and get work done, even when at times it’s outside the scope of the job.• Provide on-call support for the North America crisis communications team on periodic rotation.About the teamAmazon Operations Internal Communications (OIC) is on the front lines of creating content to inform, engage, and inspire our thousands of Operations employees and support teams around the world. We are strategic thinkers; impactful storytellers and writers; communications consultants, crisis and risk managers, and brand ambassadors focused on delivering communications that build the Amazon reputation from the inside out.Basic Qualifications- 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related fieldPreferred Qualifications- Experience in internal or external communications with a national or global company with a preference for operations, logistics, retail- Experience communicating to a range of employee audiences including corporate, field, and frontline.- Experience developing relevant content for a diverse, dispersed, and mobile workforce- Issues management experience at a global, public company, ideally a large and well-known brand- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are a must, with the ability to think and communicate clearly, formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues, and create a concise and well-written narrative- Experience executing highly successful, creative, and complex communications plans- Experience developing effective leadership/executive communications- Background in strategic communications, workplace culture, HR transformation, and/or employer branding- Change management experience- Speech writing and/or executive coaching- Solid project management skills, handling multiple tasks and evolving priorities- Possess a strategic approach to problems solving- Ability to exercise high judgment, particularly in narrow time-frames when dealing with ambiguity- Adaptable and willing to pivot quickly to meet emerging demands- Keenly focused and able to pay careful attention to important detailsAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
