The Assistant Producer at Radiolab will support the show’s overall production logistics and help coordinate the co-hosts schedules and production needs. We’re seeking an ambitious, deep-thinking, deep-feeling entry-level journalist who is obsessed with helping us put together the pieces that make great stories. This person will not be responsible for pitching, reporting, or producing their own stories, but will work closely with the Radiolab production team to facilitate the weekly delivery of episode releases across podcast, broadcast, and digital platforms, and will support the co-hosts with scheduling, recordings, and other production coordination needs . The ideal candidate will be willing to work hard and pitch in on all aspects of the production process, no matter how small.Key Responsibilities:+ Partner with Managing Producer to produce rerun and syndication episodes, and QC broadcast episodes on a weekly basis+ Schedule recording sessions and produce all host reads and sponsorship spot+ Partner with General Manager and hosts to organize the hosts’ calendar, schedule meetings, and book all tapings+ Various administrative and production tasks, as needed, including cutting selects of tape, booking travel and processing expenses for hosts+ Partner with the Executive Director to create social media and promotion strategy for the show. Manage social and promotion calendar for Radiolab’s engagement channels. Write and produce content for website, newsletter, social media, and other platforms+ Support the host(s) on the show with research, pre-interviews, booking guests, preps, organizing tape, sending tape for transcription, cutting selects of tape, as needed+ Locate archival tape/music as neededKey Qualifications:+ Has 1-2 year experience in a media environment (internships and per diem gigs count! Broadcasting/podcasting is a plus).+ Experience with linear editing software (ProTools, Logic, et cetera) is a plus.+ Is super organized and gets stuff done.+ Is willing to pitch in on all tasks in the production process, no matter how big or small.+ Excellent communication skills -- both oral and written -- and a proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.+ Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve in high pressure situations+ Familiarity with social media best practices and optimization. 1-2 year experience creating content for social media platformsAdditional InformationThis is a full-time role with a rate of $36.1854 - $37.3626 per hour ($65,857-$68K annually), plus a full benefits package. Rate offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and organizational pay equity. New York Public Radio offers excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance, vacation, and sick time as well as inclusive paid family leave.This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between New York Public Radio and SAG-AFTRA.This role operates in a hybrid capacity, with the ability to work from home 3 days per week.
