2024 - Project Manager (Film and Television) - Buffalo, NY - A Sponsored Program of The Research Foundation for The State University of New YorkTitle:Project ManagerforPost-Production Diversity Initiative (PPDI) in Film and TelevisionFTE: Full TimeLocation: Buffalo, New YorkAnnual Salary: $62,000We are seeking a project manager for Buffalo State’s one-yearPost-Production Diversity Initiative (PPDI) in Film and Television, which is scheduled to launch in the Fall of 2024. PPDI is funded by a New York Entertainment Workforce Diversity Grant to help foster more diversity in the film industry. PPDI is a collaboration between Buffalo State University, the Motion Picture Editors Guild, the technology company Avid, and the Buffalo-based film studio Buffalo FilmWorks. The purpose of PPDI is to educate and mentor post-production editors from underrepresented communities to help them secure entry-level jobs in the film and video post-production field. PPDI will be offered to a cohort of 18 participants recruited from Buffalo State’s diverse student body and community members from Buffalo and surrounding areas.PPDI is fiscally managed by the Research Foundation for SUNY, and the project manager will be a Research Foundation employee (not a Buffalo State employee). The position pays $62,400 for 12 months. Anticipated start date is September 15th 2024.The responsibilities of the project manager include:+ Create a powerful and effective marketing and publicity campaign for PPDI and be a successful spokesperson for this ambitious and high-profile program+ Recruit and select students and community participants for the program and help create a wide reaching and multi-faceted recruitment strategy+ Assemble and work with a team of audio and video post-production educators, professional training specialists and program partners+ Organize and oversee planned project activities (workshops, trips)+ Communicate project status to key project participants+ Oversee and manage the project budget and help participants and contracted employees fill out timesheets and pay request formsThe Project Manager should have the following qualifications:+ Bachelor Degree+ Should be a self-starter with considerable initiative and creative problem-solving skills+ A minimum of two years professional experience in marketing and public relations+ Experience in public speaking and interacting with the news media+ Demonstrable project management and budget experience+ Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills+ Strong organizational, time management, verbal and written communication skills+ Ability to multitask+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office softwarePreferred qualifications:+ Knowledge of the media post-production fieldTravel Requirements:+ Less than 5% annuallyDeadline to apply isAugust 21, 2024.
