Permit Expeditor/Construction Administrator, Land Development_

OverviewThe primary responsibility of the Civil Permit Expeditor/Construction Administrator is to be the primary individual in the preparation and tracking of permit applications and shop drawings while ensuring permit and construction schedules are adhered. They will assist AVCON’s Engineer-of-Record (EOR) from inception to completion of project. This requires constant communication with the in-house design staff, and the contractor.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS(may include but are not limited to):+ Understand, read, and review permit requirements as related to construction plans and specifications.+ Monitors and documents construction activities related to the AVCON portion of the scope.+ Reviews quantities submitted in request for payment and recommends comments or approval to the EOR.+ Reviews Shop Drawing for final approval by the EOR or design team.+ Assists in the preparation of RFIs.+ Compiles as-built surveys submitted by contractor for the engineering team’s assessment of the accuracy with the work.+ Review AVCON produced record drawings to confirm conformance with the as-built survey and agency requirements.+ Maintain Shop Drawing and RFI logs and track the documents through approval or response.+ Nights and weekends are generally not required but may occasionally be necessary with little or no advanced notice.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS+ Associate’s degree or High school graduate or equivalent, with 5 years of experience. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management with 0-1 year of experience, preferred.+ Working knowledge of applicable statutes, rules, ordinances, codes and regulations governing operations, required.+ Must be able to read and interpret contract plans and specifications, required.+ Have a solid understanding of complex construction means and methods, desired.+ Must be able to handle basic geometric mathematical calculations involving linear distances, areas, and volumes.+ Must have good written and communication skills.+ Must have strong organizational skills.+ Must have reasonable computer skills and be literate in MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel, and ability to use E-Builder+ Knowledge of engineering and construction practices and principles.+ Knowledge of safety construction practices and OSHA Standards.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILLS+ Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of clients, management, and employees.+ Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with minimal supervision.+ Ability to maintain confidentially and protect privileged client information and documents appropriately.+ Knowledge of correct English usage including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.LICENSURE+ Valid drivers’ license and maintenance of satisfactory driving record.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThere are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.ENVIRONMENTWork usually takes place in an indoor setting but there may be times when assistance in the field is needed that may be subject to inclement weather conditions, loud noises, hot and cold temperatures, dust, or fumes. This position may entail out of town assignments, typically on one day trips.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear.
