If this sounds like the choice you want to make, then choose MITRE—and make a difference with us.Department Summary:As a principal workforce communications professional in MITRE’s People, Learning and Growth (HR) sector, this role is critical in developing, leading, and executing internal communications, engagement strategies, and collateral across multiple stakeholders and programs – including senior leadership - at both the tactical and strategic level and within a fast-paced environment and high operational tempo.Aligned to the organization’s mission and enterprise business goals, this role will partner and collaborate across the business on internal workforce communications topics; develop and implement integrated employee communications strategies, programs, and campaigns; deliver, enhance, and educate communications tools and processes; and serve as a communications ambassador committed to fostering internal cross-team communications that drive measurable results across the enterprise.This position reports to the Director, People Communications and is accountable for developing and implementing authentic internal communications programs, activities, and touch points, including the drafting, editing, and overall development of communications collateral; the design and implementation of cohesive communications plans, and provide strategic recommendations and guidance to internal clients on communications best practices.Roles & Responsibilities:+ Capacity to operate with agility and speed in a transformative environment to deliver and implement communications strategies and collateral that support MITRE’s people programs with the goal to drive successful engagement with employees and reinforce organizational values and behaviors.+ Work cross-functionally with partner-communications assets, including digital, creative, external communications, social media, and marketing leads to produce and deliver high quality, integrated, and timely internal communications products and communications plans aligned to business goals and objectives.+ Collaborate and partner with multi-disciplinary functions across the enterprise, modeling the organization’s culture, ethics, and behaviors and fosters an inclusive team dynamic and work environment.+ Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to senior leadership and program managers and leads on leading-edge communications practices, models, and innovative trends, while consistently re-imagining how we engage our workforce via internal written communications and publications.+ Consistently model desired cultural and leadership attributes including immersion in the details while executing on the mission, vision, and strategy with speed, risk-taking, adaptability, collaboration, and grace and respect.+ Application of project-management principles, including creating and managing schedules and plans, tracking tasks, ensuring that communications remain on schedule, and ability to set, evaluate and analyze measurable communications outcomes.Basic Qualifications:+ Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.+ 4+ years of a demonstrated track record partnering with Human Resources, and the business to implement communications strategies and develop written communications collateral.+ Accustomed to navigating a highly matrixed organization with competing priorities and stakeholders and within tight timelines.+ Strong change management, communication, and program management experience.+ Strong interpersonal skills and presence with proven ability to be innovative and creative while demonstrating exceptional written and verbal communication; listens well and can easily learn to communicate in someone else’s “written voice”.+ This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.+ Please include Writing sample with applicationPreferred Qualifications:+ Experience within Technology, and/or Government Contracting industries.+ Proven experience communicating for a highly diversified company.+ Robust experience working in an organization undergoing significant organizational change and transformation.+ Demonstrated experience delivering impactful employee communications programs in concert with corporate business strategy, planning, and organizational transformation efforts.+ Strategic thinker, data-driven and analytical in approach to solving problems.+ Excels at building relationships and networks;
