The Department of Writing Arts at Rowan University is seeking to fill two temporary assistant teaching professor positions to begin Fall 2024. The positions are 10-month, with the appointment of 2 years, and include benefits. Successful candidates will teach a total of 24 credits over two semesters, with the option to teach overload and summer classes for additional compensation. Assignments are determined by departmental need and based on the faculty member's experience and expertise. Candidates should anticipate teaching at the undergraduate level, primarily in the First-Year Writing Program, which includes specialized, discipline-specific sections for Engineering, Computer Science, and/or Business students. Faculty are eligible to teach overloads during the academic year and also are eligible to teach during summer sessions. Candidates must be available to teach five days per week.In service to the department, faculty in this position are expected to serve on committees, including, but not limited to, curriculum development, assessment, and outreach. Faculty may also pursue other service responsibilities as sought or assigned. In addition, faculty are expected to engage in professional development.The successful candidate will join a thriving department that offers a BA in Writing Arts, multiple minors and certificates of undergraduate study, and an MA in Writing. Our faculty pursue diverse scholarly and creative agendas and publish in national and international forums. Located in the Ric Edelman College of Communication and Creative Arts, we are one of the few standalone writing departments in the nation.
