Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development.The Department of English currently has ten tenured or tenure-track professors as well as adjuncts and lecturers teaching a diverse array of courses in literature, composition, creative and professional writing, linguistics, and critical theory. We offer both a literature track and a writing track that incorporates professional and creative writing. Our faculty are encouraged to design courses in their areas of specialty and have the opportunity to teach cross-listed courses with Women's and Gender Studies, Africana and Latinx Studies, World Languages and Literatures, Philosophy, and other departments. About half of our students are dual-Adolescent Education majors. ABD considered; official confirmation of degree conferral by issuing institution by start of employment+ Proficiency in gender and sexuality studies with expertise in queer literature, expertise in medieval literature, and familiarity with recent work in premodern queer, gender, and sexuality studies.+ Ability to teach composition, introductory, survey, and general literature courses.Also Considered:+ Depth of experience teaching university undergraduates.+ Depth of experience working with diverse populations and/or pedagogy that addresses cultural diversity+ Ability to work collaboratively within the department and across disciplines.+ Experience with experiential or applied learning.Areas of specialization considered include:+ Premodern Gender, Transgender and/or Sexuality Studies+ Medieval World, Global, or Hemispheric Studies+ Premodern Race Studies+ Premodern Environmental Humanities or Medieval Ecocriticism+ Premodern Disability Studies+ History of Medicine or Science; Medieval Religion and Theology+ Poetry, Lyric, Poetics+ Romance+ Chaucer+ Arthurian Literature+ Medievalism+ Folklore and Mythology+ Biography and Autobiography+ Premodern Languages, Linguistics, and Translation+ Old or Middle English+ Medieval Geographies and Diaspora+ Textual and Manuscript Studies+ Literary Theory, including work on Form, Affect, Materialism, and Digital Humanities.Additional Information:SUNY Oneonta enrolls about 5,500 students who pursue bachelor's or master's degrees or certificates in one of 70-plus academic programs.
