Responsibilities:The College of Performing Arts (CoPA) at The New School is seeking a highly qualified Temporary Assistant Audio & Video Supervisor ( AAVS ) to join its Production Staff. Reporting to the Audio & Video Supervisor, the Assistant A&V Supervisor is assigned as needed to oversee crews, provide support to outside designers, and resolve time sensitive technical needs when the Audio & Video Supervisor is engaged with concurrent projects.The Temporary Assistant Audio & Video Supervisor is a qualified and organized technician who prioritizes students and their experience at CoPA. A strong collaborator who will be expected to lead independent projects with professionalism, efficiency, and a desire to make excellent work.The Temporary AAVS reports to the Audio & Video Supervisor.The New School is strongly committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and particularly seeks applications from members of underrepresented groups, as well as candidates who share this commitment.Responsibilities+ Attend Production Meetings for assigned upcoming events, drama shows, concerts, operas and use their expertise to advise event leads and clients on the best way to achieve their goals as relates to Sound, Projections, and Live Streaming.+ Function as Production Audio as well as Video Engineer for outside professional designers working in our spaces in the School of Drama for assigned shows.+ Crew their assigned events in collaboration with the Audio & Video Supervisor+ Direct any Audio & Video technicians under their supervision in the completion of any required tasks and to provide guidance when necessary. Run work calls and be on call during Tech and Rehearsals for their assigned events.+ For High Profile events, the AA&V Supervisor may also be requested to function as A1 or V1 and Crew Head for both departments.+ Be in close communication with the Audio & Video Supervisor providing Shift Reports on the success and challenges of each performance, event, or work call.+ Perform diagnostics and maintenance on equipment and spaces in collaboration with the Audio & Video Supervisor+ Provide professional, respectful, and courteous service to all parties+ Additional responsibilities as assignedWORK MODEOn-siteSALARY$35/hourMinimum Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS+ 3 years of experience in Theatrical Sound and Concert Sound+ Comfortable working at height with the ability to safely climb ladders, operate Genies or other lifts.+ Strong understanding of digital and analog signal flow in Audio and Video systems+ Strong day of show troubleshooting skills under tight time constraints+ Experience with Meyer and L-Acoustics sound systems+ Strong working knowledge of Qlab, Dante Virtual Soundcard, Yamaha, Midas, Behringer, and Allen & Heath Digital Consoles+ Strong Knowledge of networking for Audio / Video Systems (Control Networks, Dante, NDI , AES50, AVB , etc.)+ Familiar with Sony and Blackmagic Cameras, Blackmagic video switchers+ Experience running crew calls and delegating responsibilities efficiently+ Ability to maintain composure under pressure and maintain a friendly customer service attitude+ Experienced or able to learn and develop fluency in The New School’s suite of data systems including WorkDay, Tableau, Banner, and 25Live.+ Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Inclusion, Social Justice, and the transformative power of the arts and educationPreferred Qualifications:PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS+ 5 years experience in Live Music and Theatrical sound and video production+ Experience in Live Stream Production+ Experience in Corporate Sound, Special Events, Festival Sound, Line by Line Musical Mixing, and Broadcast audio experience are all plusses+ Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision+ Experience with Recording consoles and Recording studio workflows+ Proficient in ProTools and familiar with HDX systems+ Able to lift up to 50lbs
