The reporter will develop sources and wade through the voluminous court docket to find stories with the most impact, translating legal jargon into compelling human stories.We are looking for a reporter who is passionate about journalism and enjoys working with a team to develop news stories, investigations and enterprise, but who also knows how to deliver breaking news quickly and accurately.We offer a newsroom where reporters are encouraged to innovate and pitch their ideas, editors work closely with reporters and talented journalists are willing to collaborate. The ideal candidate will have a competitive instinct and thrive on breaking news with exclusive and impactful stories.The ideal candidate will have:+ A minimum of two years ofjournalism experience with a proven ability in reporting and writing.+ A degree in journalism, communications, political science or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.+ A proven ability to develop sources, including in the criminal justice system and law enforcement+ Strong reporting and writing skills+ An ability to cut through legal jargon and produce clear copy+ An ability to handle deadline pressure+ Solid social media skills+ This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources and cover events.
