Job SummaryAs a Two-Way Radio Programmer, you’ll play a crucial role in configuring and maintaining two-way radio systems. You’ll collaborate with field technicians, engineers, and clients to ensure seamless communication. Your expertise in programming and troubleshooting radios will directly impact public safety and emergency services.Responsibilities-Programming and Configuration: Use specialized software to program two-way radios, ensuring optimal performance and compatibility.-System Maintenance: Regularly inspect, troubleshoot, and repair radio infrastructure, including base stations, repeaters, and portable devices.-Quality Assurance: Conduct FCC checks on equipment to verify compliance and functionality.-Documentation: Maintain accurate records of programming changes, repairs, and system updates.-Collaboration: Work closely with field technicians, engineers, and clients to address programming-related inquiries and resolve issues promptly.Preferred Qualifications-We need to create Motorola Code Plugs and/or Harris personalities.-Technical Skills: Proficiency in radio programming software (e.g., -LMR T25, -LT Harris, -XL 200, -XL-185), understanding of RF principles, and familiarity with various radio models.-Certifications: Industry certifications such as Certified Electronics Technician (CET) or Certified Two-Way Radio Technician (CTRT) are a plus.-Experience: Prior experience in radio programming, preferably in public safety or telecommunications.-Attention to Detail: Precise programming is essential for reliable communication; meticulousness matters.-Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve programming issues efficiently.Work Environment-Collaborative Atmosphere: Work closely with colleagues, clients, and emergency services personnel.-Varied Locations: Projects may take you to different sites, from urban areas to remote regions.Physical Requirements-Mobility: Ability to move around job sites, and lift equipment (up to 50 lbs).-Manual Dexterity: Precise handling of small components during programming and repairs.Opportunities for Growth-Advanced Certifications: Pursue higher-level certifications (e.g., Master CET, RF Engineer).-Specialization: Focus on specific radio systems.-Leadership Roles: Progress to supervisory or managerial positions within radio communication teams.+ Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
