QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be New York State or Buffalo certified in the tenure area for which they are applying to teach. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications . EXPERIENCE: Preference will be given to applicants with experience in Music Therapy program. Prior experience teaching students with special needs is strongly preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES:+ The music teacher for the NYSAA Program is responsible for developing and implementing a music program designed to meet the individual needs of students with special needs enrolled at specific Buffalo Public Schools.+ Consult with the student’s primary special education teacher to prepare, implement, and evaluate intervention plans for each student.+ Maintain all necessary and appropriate records including student engagement and progress+ Communicate with administrators, teachers, parents, and students regarding progress/status of music therapy program+ Participate in staff development focus on NYSAA students, parent meetings, and CSE annual review meetings as appropriate.+ Provide training & information to staff as requested.+ Assist classroom staff in developing instructional intervention & techniques that utilize activities associated with music therapy.+ Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal of OTC – PS 42.APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service.
