Media Secretary - 9 Month JobID: 13274+ Position Type:Secretarial/Clerical/ Secretary - 9,10 and 11-Months+ Date Posted:8/19/2024+ Location:Cleveland Elementary SchoolPRINCIPAL DUTIES Provide secretarial services for the Library/Media Center.Assist in preparation and circulation of materials and equipment.Use technology skills for creating book lists, orders, labels, correspondence, and filing.Strong clerical skills for typing book lists, orders, labels, correspondence, and filing.Coordinate the Library/Media Center when the media specialist is unavailable.Supervision and interact with students in the media center and computer lab.Assist in maintaining technology equipment..Other duties as may be assigned.CLASSIFICATIONSecretarial-Clerical Group BSeven (7) hour per day.Nine (9) months per year.PREPARATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS Computer literacy including computerized catalog and circulation databases.Enjoy working with children.Good communication skills.Successful experience in a responsible secretarial position.Demonstrate proficiency in typing, office skills, and bookkeeping.Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions.Ability to work with staff, students, and public.Capable of representing the school in a professional manner, which includes but is not limited to confidentiality, communication skills and dress.Knowledge of general office procedures.Ability to organize, prioritize, and initiate tasks.Willingness to learn new technology through district courses and other avenues.Troubleshoot technology (computers and AV equipment).ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the building including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising students during indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when supervising playground and transportation activities and while on field trips.
