NBCUniversal’s Dry Creek Hub is the primary master control and ingest operation for 39 NBC and Telemundo Owned and Operated Television Stations. The Media Operations Technician must perform ingest and quality control of content, using several technical processes & technologies, for the Owned Television Stations’ media fulfillment.Responsibilities+ Perform ingest and quality control of all digital media for the Hub ensuring technical specifications for all encoded and transcoded files, with the expectation of making zero errors or defects+ Perform segmentation of syndicated file deliveries+ Record all quick-turn shows and segment when needed+ Responsible for managing asset preparation including but not limited to organizing, pulling content for ingest/broadcast, and returning content to proper storage location.+ Learn and perform all Hub media prep processes in the Media Operations Center & any additional processes that are created in the future.+ Provide delivery support of digital media to internal departments, stations’ needs and external partnership.+ Troubleshoot basic problems and issues in the media prep workflow following escalation procedure and maintaining client communication.+ Work closely with fellow Technicians, Media Asset Coordinators, Hub On-Air Supervisors, and local stations’ teams to ensure all materials are ingested, qc'ed, and ready for air.+ Additional duties as needed and assigned by Supervisor(s).+ A high school diploma and relevant certification or associate degree in Media or Communications, or equivalent professional experience in a production, postproduction, broadcast, or communications environment+ A solid understanding of television production, broadcast operations, and/or news/sports/entertainment technical production requirements.+ 2+ years of experience in a job or school related activity using computers and software applications including MS outlook, MS Word, & MS ExcelAdditional Requirements+ Must have flexibility with work schedule; must be able to work late hours, overnights, weekends, holidays and occasional special events when needed for 24/7 operations+ Must be willing to work in Centennial, CO+ Must have unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States.Desired Characteristics+ Bachelor’s or 2 year degree in Communications or Media+ A punctual, hardworking, & dependable individual with attention to detail+ Knowledge of various media formats/file types (QT, WMV, MXF, DNX, DV, etc) and video standards (NTSC, PAL)+ Basic understanding of digital video/audio including compression codecs, file systems, file transfer applications and Content Distribution Management (FTP, Pitch Blue, Pathfire, etc.)+ Prior experience in media ingest and on-air operations especially in a quality control capacity+ Prior experience in a fast paced, quick turn and/or live broadcast environment+ Prior experience using media technology library and workflow systems+ A team player, who is always respectful, follows rules and policy, has good communication skills, and maintains a positive attitude.+ Understanding of domestic broadcast file standards and frame rates+ Professional experience with SD & HD file formats and specifications+ The ability to maintain composure and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.+ Ability to adapt to new and changing workflows and software implementations+ An acute attention to detail and a knack for cross-referencing and identifying inconsistencies, coupled with the ability to anticipate and report potential issues and concerns proactively.Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.Anticipated Schedule (subject to change based on business needs) Monday-Friday 5:30pm-2:00am MT.This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
