Communications Manager - Social Media

Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, Washington, United States, 98052

As Microsoft continues to push the boundaries of AI, we are on the lookout for passionate individuals to work with us on the most interesting and challenging AI questions of our time. Our vision is bold and broad —to build systems that have true artificial intelligence across agents, applications, services, and infrastructure. It’s also inclusive: we aim to make AI accessible to all — consumers, businesses, developers — so that everyone can realize its benefits.

Microsoft AI’s Mission is to use AI responsibly to make everyone more informed, capable, and supported.

We are creating unique, beautiful and powerful products that will change lives. We are proud of what we build, how we build it and that our products will define the AI era. It’s a time of huge change in the AI landscape, and this role will put you right in the heart of it.

We are seeking a highly motivated Communications Manager focused on social media for the CEO of Microsoft AI. You will combine an ability to craft eye-catching, viral posts with clear communication. Being proactive, creative, and flexible, while also being able to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude is very important.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities

The ability to communicate at all altitudes with excellence, continuously test and learn, and find inspiration from unexpected sources.

Social strategy development: Build and execute on a strategy that supports the above goals. This will include, but is not limited to, how to introduce the AI CEO into social channels they are not yet engaging with (TikTok, IG/Reels, Threads, etc.). Working with the product team, PR/comms partners and also the creator team to find ways to align and weave things together to maximize the work everyone is doing and to create a cohesion. (For example: Should Microsoft AI CEO weigh in on posts in the comments for more consumer-focused channels at first vs. posting direct? Should they collab with creators to get introduced to audiences on those channels? What is the crawl (fast) walk, run thinking?).

Content sourcing and story mining.

External-driven: Monitor research + industry thought leadership, social listening and trend spotting, cultural moments, user anecdotes.

Internal-driven: Seek out and capture personal anecdotes and use cases, top-of-mind themes/topics, learnings, behind the scenes content, etc.

Copywriting: Draft copy for social posts, video scripts.

Content capture: Support filming for both candid and scripted videos (event clips, explainer videos, etc.).

Network within Microsoft to source content (from product, brand and other exec/team channels) and platform best practices.

Network with other internal groups to support their social content and get amplification for our content.

Act as surge support as needed for other exec comms priorities, such as event participation, writing, and internal comms.
