KCCI-TV, the CBS affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa, has an opening for a full-time Studio Camera Operator who is a self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized team player with strong interpersonal skills and who works well under pressure. You will have a working knowledge of broadcast production operations. This position has the potential to expand to include operating control room automation for the right candidate. You will report to the Operations Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the operation of robotic television cameras for a live broadcast
  • Interact with directors, producers, and talent & must always remain focused
  • Operate television studio cameras in a live production setting
  • Operate studio lights
  • Punctual attendance for shifts that can start as early as 3 am
  • Work weekends and holidays, as necessary, in support of our 24/7 broadcast operations
  • In-person attendance is required

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Experience operating professional video cameras in live production
  • Experience using Windows-based computer software
  • Equivalent military or college-level experience will be considered
  • Knowledge of robotic camera operation is highly desirable
  • The ability to rapidly respond properly to unexpected on-air issues is critical.
  • Must be an effective communicator and team player. The ability to work cooperatively with others in stressful situations is a must
  • Ability to follow instructions quickly and accurately, with attention to detail
  • Can work flexible hours and shifts including holidays and weekends
  • Be able to maneuver a non-robotic camera pedestal into exact positions quickly and precisely
