This is not a job for the average producer. You must be a self-starter who thrives under pressure and can output detailed video content quickly and creatively. Attention to detail is key, along with strong instincts on what makes a story shareable.

All our journalists are expected to have their fingers on the pulse of world news, from President Trump’s latest tweet to the latest on the wars in Syria and Yemen. You’ll also need to have an unhealthy obsession with social media, and an ability to spot the stories our audience cares about while they’re breaking.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Producer works under the Newsroom Executive Producer and will be responsible for producing select pieces of video content from start to finish.

Creating accurate, concise, and engaging content using creative storytelling techniques.

Conceiving, pitching, and executing story ideas.

Meeting daily deadlines.

Following AJ+ editorial guidelines and ethics.

Ensuring that AJ+ content is consistent with goals.

This is a rotating shift-based job that will require set evening and weekend hours each month.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree or relevant experience.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an editorial position.

Proven experience in video production or online journalism.

SKILLS

Outstanding writing and video scripting ability.

Outstanding ability to write concise and accurate journalistic headlines and summaries.

A clear understanding of AJ+ editorial identity and the style of our content.

Ability to work under tight pressure and deadlines.

Ability to work long, flexible hours and adapt to changing priorities.

Sound editorial judgment on a range of global issues.

An understanding of the demands of a 24-hour news cycle.

A strong grasp of newsroom workflows and operations.

Sound communication abilities.

Adobe Premiere experience preferred.
