As the Sr. FP&A Manager for the Sales & Advertising team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and steering the financial and business strategy of one of the largest teams at the Star Tribune. This leadership role demands a strategic thinker with strong financial acumen, capable of guiding business leaders and influencing the decision-making process. You will lead the FP&A team, oversee the financial planning process, develop business cases, manage the sales commission process, and drive performance management to support the company's mission and goals. This position is expected to be hybrid at our Star Tribune offices three days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy Development:Act as a trusted leader within the Sales & Advertising business team.Develop a comprehensive understanding of the business to influence and guide business leaders effectively.Partner with leaders to develop and execute strategic plans, including developing business cases and identifying emerging revenue opportunities.

Team Leadership:Lead and develop the Sales & Advertising FP&A team, fostering a high-performance culture and providing strategic direction.

Financial Planning and Analysis:Drive effective and efficient financial planning processes, including the development of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.Analyze key variances to inform future forecasting and adjust strategies accordingly.Identify risks and opportunities, collaborating with leaders to create and implement plans that optimize financial performance.Influence business leaders to make informed trade-offs that align with organizational goals.

Influence Sales Team Performance Management:Collaborate with business leaders to design and manage the sales commission process, ensuring it incentivizes exceptional performance while promoting profitable growth.Support the performance management of sales teams, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and driving results.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; MBA preferred.Experience in financial planning and analysis roles, with a proven track record of leading FP&A teams, driving strategic initiatives, and delivering financial performance.Strong leadership abilities, including coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence decision-makers.Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and scenario planning.Advanced knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.Experience with financial planning tools and systems (e.g., ERP systems, Excel, BI tools) and a willingness to adopt new technologies and methodologies.Strategic mindset with the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and develop innovative solutions to achieve business goals.More about the Star Tribune:
