Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.Reporting to the Director, provides leadership, resources, and advocates for equity for all students, in particular addressing opportunities for students in the areas of computer science, computer literacy, and media literacy; works collaboratively, cross functionally and with school districts to develop and implement innovative educational practices and technologies and college and career ready initiatives; integrates and executes the policies and expectations of the State Board of Education through engaging legislators, school administrators, teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders in formulating and advocating for policies that enhance education, empower districts, and ensure equitable outcomes for all students.Duties and Responsibilities:Works collaboratively within center and cross-functionally to develop, implement, and facilitate innovative educational programs such as the Competency Pilot.Provides leadership, expertise, and support within the department, cross-departmental, and externally in support of middle and secondary school transformation.Provides leadership, expertise, and support within ISBE and other educational agencies as it pertains to creation, establishment, and review of materials/resources and instructional support services to facilitate college and career ready initiatives, the Illinois Learning Standards, and competency-based education.Advocates for equity in programming which supports all students.Participates in agency and external group affiliates as directed in order to create, maintain, and build partnerships/relationships and to disseminate agency information.Creates, prepares, and participates in professional learning as it pertains to computer science, computer literacy, media literacy, and college and career ready initiatives.Communicates effectively and speaks accurately on behalf of the State Board of Education.Collaboratively reviews policies, procedures, rules, and legislation to support computer science, computer literacy, and media literacy and improve the overall effectiveness of programming to improve outcomes for students.Participates in agency training and professional development activities to improve support to stakeholders.Facilitates data collection, compilation, and analysis for reporting and provides assistance implementing data-driven strategic planning and continuous improvement plans/models which improve outcomes for students.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Education or a computer science-related field, or, a Bachelor's degree in Education or a computer science-related field plus two years of teaching experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)Must currently hold or have held in the last five calendar years an educator license that includes the authority to teach computer science coursework or have been properly credentialed to teach education or computer science-related coursework at a postsecondary institution. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)Illinois professional educators license (or equivalent from another state or country), or verification of employment to teach education or computer science-related coursework at a postsecondary institution. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)Two years (in addition to education requirements) of formal or informal teaching experience in K-12 or postsecondary settings.Experience in computer science, computer applications, educational technology, or a related field (including teaching in a related field).Familiarity with educational technology and practices.Ability to effectively communicate both in written communication and verbally.Ability to lead and work with diverse groups.Ability to set and meet timelines.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with practicing educators to produce resources, materials, curriculum, and/or instructional materials.Experience working with adult learners in professional development settings.Knowledge of andragogy and adult learning.Knowledge of media literacy.ISBE provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
