The School of Industrial Design enrollment has grown to over 350 students today, with the largest undergraduate enrollment in the College of Design. The School of Industrial Design currently offers a BSID, MID, MS-HCI (with a specialization in Industrial Design), and an ID Minor, and it is working towards establishing a PhD in ID. Our mandate is to build design and research capabilities in collaboration with other well-recognized Programs and Centers on the Georgia Tech campus, including Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Architecture, Interactive Computing, Graphics Visualization and Usability Center (GVU), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and the Center for Inclusive Design and Innovation (CIDI). The school has also launched a 2-year exchange-based MID program at Georgia Tech's academic institute in Shenzhen, China.Job Summary The School of Industrial Design (https://id.gatech.edu/) at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Industrial Design. Depending on the budget, one of two positions may be open. We seek visionary and innovative candidates who strongly emphasize sustainable product design & system development and STEM education with a strong track record and commitment to design, research, and teaching. Candidates should have experience and research in one or more areas based on industrial design education and practices: material science, manufacturing, interactions between humans and materials, environmental impact analysis, learning theories, and strategic development of interdisciplinary studies.Successful candidates will be expected to develop a robust collaborative research agenda ideally connected with one or more of the groups identified above. The person in the position will be thoroughly familiar with both the curriculum and career requirements in the fields of Product and System Integration and Sustainable Design to provide leadership in curriculum planning to adequately prepare our students for the best opportunities in a rapidly changing environment. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to teaching and mentoring students. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.Required Qualifications

Assistant ProfessorA doctorate in an appropriate discipline or experience which is of value comparable to the doctorate in preparing the candidate for the role of an educator.Clear evidence of effective teaching.Clear evidence of creativity.Associate ProfessorSufficient time in grade. Generally, five (5) or more years as an Assistant Professor. Criteria for early promotions can be found in the Faculty Handbook section 3.3.6.A doctorate in an appropriate discipline or experience which is of value comparable to the doctorate in preparing the candidate for the role of an educator.Clear evidence of effective teaching.Clear evidence of creativity while at Georgia Tech.Clear evidence of contributions to Georgia Tech in meaningful ways by service to the Institute, to the public, or to appropriate professional organizations.Preferred Qualifications
