Oversees the budgeting, manufacturing, installation, and personnel health and safety associated with all aspects of production for the School of Theatre and Dance, including the Little Theatre of the Rockies summer season.JOB DUTIES:Technical Direction: Budgeting, scheduling, construction, and installation of all scenic elements: 75%Safety oversight for all technical areas: 15%Supervision of student technical directors: 10%MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree: RequiredBachelor’s Degree in Theatre: PreferredMaster of Fine Arts in Technical Direction or Scene Design: PreferredA minimum of two years' experience in scenery construction, rigging systems, theatre project management, and budgeting in a collegiate or professional environment.Experience in using standard and specilized scenic carpentry tools including but not limited to CNC Router, CutAwl, Pneumatic tools, “Genie” lift, etc.Experience welding scenic structures.Experience with scenic automation.This person will be expected to gain and maintain Advanced CPR (especially Stop the Bleed) certifcation once in this position. Additionally, Fall Arrest training through the University will be required. This person will be expected to gain OSHA rigging certification once in this position.BENEFITS: Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans for all full-time positions. Employees at UNC receive sick leave, and other leave options may be available based on position. Full-time employees are eligible to receive tuition waiver benefits, as well as dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%.
