Technical Services/Research Law Librarian Technical Services/Research Law Librarians assist with the management of core legal information repositories for the Office of General Counsel.As a Technical Services/Research Law Librarian for CIA, you will assist with the management of core legal information repositories for the Office of General Counsel (OGC) to support its broad spectrum of practice areas. You will participate in the selection, acquisition, and maintenance of targeted legal information resources by providing guidance on legal research resources and best practices; providing current awareness of legal developments across OGC practice areas; and conducting unique legal research that leverages advanced research skills against specialized resources.

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform the following key responsibilities, as listed below:Serve as a central resource for managing OGC knowledge and informationApply knowledge of legal information in the maintenance of a classification/metadata schemeProvide guidance and training on the use and availability of resources and legal research capabilitiesPerform complex research, including locating federal statutes, regulations, executive orders, cases, international treaties, conventions, agreements, and protocolsCreate procedural and informational pathfinders, bibliographies, and other documentationYou must be physically in the United States or one of its territories when you submit your resume via MyLINK.You must be registered for the Selective Service, if applicable.You must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years of age (dual-national US citizens are eligible).You must be willing to move to the Washington, DC area.You must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview, and a comprehensive background investigation.For further information, please visit: https://www.cia.gov/careers/how-we-hire/Qualifications

Minimum QualificationsMinimum of two (2) years of experience as a librarian in a large legal firmLegal research skills with proficiency in Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis, and other common legal information platformsDemonstrated knowledge of search technologies and concrete, advanced information retrieval techniquesDemonstrated knowledge of the traditional legal research methodDemonstrated knowledge of cataloging principles, practices, and systemsExcellent written and verbal communications skillsFlexibility and strong interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to work independently and collaborativelyEnthusiastic commitment to customer serviceAbility to meet the minimum requirements for joining CIA , including U.S. citizenship and a background investigationMaster of Library Science (MLS) degree from an ALA-accredited institutionAt least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scaleHow You Will Be Evaluated You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.If you are relying on your education to meet qualification requirements: Failure to provide all of the required information as stated in this vacancy announcement may result in an ineligible rating or may affect the overall rating.This post is for viewing purposes only.
