Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on development, manufacturing, and operation of satellite systems to address one of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space mobility.As part of a small, hardworking, and accomplished team of Mission Systems and Flight Operations Engineers, you will work closely with space vehicle and ground subsystem teams, leading and performing tasks throughout the full system lifecycle. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the mission operations concept, mission analysis and planning, flight planning, ground data systems, and tools used to operate advanced spaceflight vehicles.You will enjoy a fast-paced dynamic environment, contributing innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. Craft intuitive UI/UX interfaces for mission control tools (i.e., Mission Planning, Flight Dynamics, Communications Management, Anomaly Resolution), prioritizing effective visualization and interactive experiences.Develop dynamic 3D models and visualizations of in-space assets to support situational awareness, operator training, mission rehearsals, and software validation.Adopt UI/UX and data visualization practices to enhance real-time operational decision-making and improve response efficiency.Coordinate closely with cross-functional teams to incorporate simulations into the broader ground system infrastructure seamlessly.Design and architect user-centered, intuitive flight operations tools, including operator console tools, handover tools, operator logs, and Contingency Action Requests (CARs) systems.Work in a multidisciplinary environment to gather requirements and seamlessly integrate the tools with existing ground system infrastructure.Oversee the full development lifecycle of the tools, from conception through deployment, including testing and validation.Collaborate with flight controllers, engineers, and various stakeholders to identify enhancements and streamline operational workflows.Provide documentation, training, and support for end-users of the Mission Control Systems tools.Qualifications:

B.S. in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Data Visualization, or a related technical field with a focus on UI and software development.Hands-on experience in UI development with specialized skills in creating data visualizations and simulations.10+ years experience in one or more of the following: Strong command of one or more front-end technologies (React, Angular, Vue.js, JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5), plus visualization tools and libraries (e.g., D3.js, WebGL, Unity, Unreal Engine).Working knowledge of software development for real-time simulation and virtual environments.Passion for aesthetics, human factors, usability with attention to detail in user interface design.Proven experience in UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing solutions in high-complexity environments.Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey design concepts and interact with a diverse technical team.Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Desired:

Background in creating UI and visualization for aerospace, defense, or other high-compliance industries, with an emphasis on simulated environments.Experience with full-stack development, including knowledge of server-side languages, Python, Ruby, or Java and familiarity with database technologies such as MySQL, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL.Knowledge of and practical experience with operator tooling for spacecraft subsystem management.Experience developing operator tools in a spaceflight or aviation mission control environment.Familiarity with mission operations software development and user interface frameworks.Experience with simulation and training environments, including the creation of tools to support operator training and readiness assessments.Practical experience in leveraging AI and Machine Learning to enhance user experience, optimize operational tooling, or improve decision-making processes within a mission control setting.Compensation range for on-site CO applicants is $153,636-$215,090Compensation range for on-site WA applicants is $167,088-$233,923Compensation range for on-site CA applicants is $167,088-$233,923Other site ranges may differCompensation Range for:CA applicants is $167,088.00-$233,923.20;CO applicants is $153,636.00-$215,090.40;WA applicants is $167,088.00-$233,923.20
