General Summary

Liaison between the athletic department and the media; primary contact for several sports; write, design and edit media guides; assist in maintaining web site; event management; and some travel.Assists in all aspects of office activity and press row operations at various athletic events. Direct WTAMU athletic programs for nomination and publicity of both student-athletes and coaches for various honors, awards and special recognition.Help manage and oversee student assistants who assist the media relations department.Ability to serve as NCAA stat crew for various sports, including both inputting and calling.Also, report scores and statistics to conference and NCAA officials.Serve as liaison to public media outlets and to departments within the university.Assist the Director of Athletic Communications with other assigned tasks, including game-day programs and other responsibilities.Additional duties include: help with departmental web-streaming operations, assist in design and production of banner ads and corporate sponsor logos for the athletic department website.

Responsibilities:Writing press releases, press guides, game programs and feature articlesCoordinating all media activities for assigned sportsCompiling statistics and reporting results to mediaAssists with departmental web-streaming operations, assist in design and production of banner ads and corporate sponsor logos for athletic departmental websiteWorking with local, regional and national mediaAssisting in all phases for football and basketballIn all aspects of publicizing West Texas A&M's 14 intercollegiate sport programs, specific sports will include track and field and cross countryThis document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions.Other duties as assigned.Necessary Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience in sports information, communication, public relations, journalism or related fieldOne (1) year of experience in media relations, publication, editing and designValid driver's license and qualify to operate within Texas A&M system guidelinesKnowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro; knowledge of StatCrew software, NCAA Live Stats, and website design; ability to work nights and weekends; strong written and oral skillsMust be able to take written and oral instructions and have the ability to work and communicate effectively with various coaching and administrative staff; management experience with the ability to instruct student workersPreferred Qualifications:

Master's degreeCollegiate sports information background.Experience at an NCAA institution sponsoring at least ten (10) sports.Working knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and experience in athletics media relationsEvent management experienceApplicant Instructions:
