Primary Purpose: Reporting into the Deputy Editor, the Senior Lifestyle Editor is responsible for leading and helping to shape the Lifestyle vertical. This editor is in charge of writing, assigning, editing, and/or updating 20-30 stories per month within the lifestyle category. The editor should feel comfortable working across several categories—including primarily mental well-being, sex, relationships, and cosmic health/astrology; but also parenting, home, and more. This savvy editor has an eye for spotting trends and finding fresh ways to think about them—always with a wellness spin. This position requires impeccable writing skills, experience assigning and editing, and an in-depth understanding of SEO best practices. You'll be successful if you are dedicated to creating outstanding content, have great ideas, and want to drive the Lifestyle vertical to new heights.

A typical day as Senior Lifestyle Editor might include:

Writing, updating, and/or editing a minimum of 1-2 stories dailyBrainstorming and pitching trending lifestyle ideas off the news and current eventsPitching and updating SEO and evergreen storiesUtilizing tools like Google Analytics, alongside social media resources like TikTok, Instagram, and Google Trends to come up with fresh content ideasIdentifying, interviewing, and developing relationships with a diverse group of lifestyle expertsDeveloping and maintaining a robust index of reliable and knowledgeable freelance writersWorking alongside the Head of Content and Deputy Editor to shape the Lifestyle verticalContributing to large scale editorial packages and brand projectsAttending events and desksides to gather intel for content creationKeeping your finger on the pulse of lifestyle content in order to spot new trendsRepresenting Well+Good across various online and in-person activations and platforms, reinforcing our brand authority

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field3-5 years of experience writing, reporting, and/or editing for a health and wellness publicationExperience editing stories that adhere to SEO best practices; finding and interviewing experts; and assigning to freelance writersSuperb written and verbal communication skillsIn-depth understanding of the health and wellness landscape, with an ability to identify trendsAbility to juggle multiple stories in various states of completion at the same timeAbility to use analytics tools and extract actionable insights from dataStrong interpersonal skills that will help you build credible and authentic connections with our audienceA creative approach to problem solving and a passion for high-quality digital content

Compensation:

The starting base pay for this role is $83,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, and other perks.
