They are responsible for working collaboratively and inclusively in generating big ideas and then ensuring they are executed well. They need to be able to think outside the box and work with cross-functional teams to produce creative solutions to problems and execute those solutions. The creative director values creativity and can fuse creative expression with brand messaging to develop clear, cohesive, and striking assets for CWU.They are adept at identifying obstacles and fostering the partnerships and support to work through them. They are familiar with the latest technologies and bring a learner mindset in the integration of new tools and applications. The Creative Director is responsible for communicating strategic goals into actionable design solutions, engaging with the executive director of marketing and branding, direct reports, and others, as appropriate, to establish conceptual and stylistic direction.Working with functional and project teams across the department, the Director, Creative Services leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive brand management system, including the facilitation of project teams responsible for the design and production of creative assets that feed the university's integrated marketing plan. The Director also supervises a team of graphic designers and videography and photography professionals collectively functioning as the Creative Team. This position guides the Creative Team's day-to-day activity on assigned creative projects and ensures the sustained communication with clients to ensure brand consistency, timely deliverable completion, high-quality creative assets, and, ultimately, client satisfaction. The Director, Creative Services collaborates with department managers in a consultative manner to devise strategic, brand consistent creative project plans in support of unit-level and university-wide goals. Working collaboratively with the other departments within University Relations, including Marketing, Strategic Communications, and Web Services among other units, the Director, Creative Services ensures seamless creation and delivery of high-quality and brand-aligned assets for the university. The Director also holds a pivotal role in developing educational and support resources to promote university-wide brand adoption. This role demands professional, fluid communication and ability to work at a fast pace, empower teams, and assure projects are delivered on time and within scope and budget. Job Duties

Brand Management- Facilitates the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive brand management system for Central Washington University.- Partners with the Executive Director of Marketing and Branding on the development, execution, maintenance, and continuous learning and improvement of the university-wide comprehensive integrated marketing plan.- With a learner mindset reinforced throughout the Creative Team and across the department, assesses project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.- Leads the effective execution of a project management structure within the Creative Team, in support of department- and division-wide quality assurance processes. Project management execution will include:facilitating the definition of project scope, goals, stakeholders and deliverables;defining project tasks and resource requirements;developing project plans, schedules, budgets, and assemble and coordinate project staff;providing direction and support to project team;assuring work is appropriately reviewed internally before presentation to client and delivery to printer, placement agency, etc.;routing and receiving proofs and samples;monitoring and assuring timely project progress reports to all stakeholders;implementing and managing project changes and interventions to achieve project objectives.- Assists in the development and monitoring of vendor contracts.- Ensures resource availability and allocation.- Oversees the university's licensing process.

Conducts formal performance evaluations.- Ensures employees have necessary resources.- Oversees and directs the work of staff; serves as mentor, coach and leader, and resolves complaints or issues.- Promotes professional development opportunities.- Develops and fosters supportive working relationships, motivation, and engagement.- Communicates information to staff on an ongoing basis to influence staff engagement and to be a part of a larger community.- Takes corrective action in a timely manner.- Recognizes and rewards employees for good performance.- Schedules employee work hours/shifts; monitor hours worked; approve payable time and absence requests.- Adjusts leadership style as needed to achieve results.- Recognizes value of and promotes diverse workforce. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in art/design, multimedia/video/photo, or related field.Experience meeting deadlines for projects that incorporate graphic, text, and other content.Knowledge of project management techniques and tools.Extraordinary client relationship and management skills.Evidence of effective personnel management.Excellent time and communication management skills.A keen eye for dynamic and brand-consistent graphic design, video, and photo assets.Highly organized with a keen eye for details.Understanding of production processes on many platforms.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Energetic, motivated, and resourceful.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in art/design, multimedia/video/photo, or related field.Familiarity with project management beyond development of marketing and promotional materials: video production, events, implementation of software, etc.Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.Mid-level graphic design, layout, and typography skills.Understanding of university services and departments, the roles and motivations/needs of the staff in those departments, and how teams must work together to develop the best solutions for our clients.Familiarity with project management software.Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into everyday conversations.Life experiences that demonstrate an ability to contribute to CWU's commitment to inclusion and diversity.CompetenciesAccountability/Dependability:

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary

: This position has a minimum annual salary of $59,068 and maximum annual salary of $85,648. The Hiring Department's expected hiring range is $59,068 - $72,358. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the hiring range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.Schedule/Appointment

: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch)Working Conditions

: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel will be required.Benefits
