Lead Designer

to join the Action Figure product design team. In this role you will create product opportunities for the Jurassic World franchise. From ferocious dinosaurs to intrepid heroes, your designs will capture the wonder of fans everywhere.

Collaboration is at the core of what we do. You’ll be teaming up with a diverse array of passionate individuals from multiple disciplines including product design, development, marketing, packaging and more. Together, we’ll brainstorm, innovate, and turn bold ideas into reality that are then translated into successful product.

As Lead Designer, you must be well versed in conceptualizing and expressing big ideas across multiple touchpoints for the JW franchise. Your job will be to sketch out product ideas with an understanding of the consumer, trends, and technology. This involves creating and communicating toy concepts in 2D and/or 3D models to design and marketing management. The ideal candidate will possess proven product design experience showing ability to work on challenging and fun products as well as ideating new concepts. You must be a self-starter and able to manage a variety of projects at once.

What Your Impact Will Be:Actively generate new ideas and toy features to enhance the brandExecute on both product and graphic designsDesign and develop figurine, playsets and new ways to play within the brandBuild consensus between members throughout the design processManage the early phases of design and development, collaborating with Development, Design, Engineering, Packaging and Cost Engineering to ensure product integrity and marketing objectivesDaily communication and collaboration with Asia partnersPresent and communicate concepts to the design and marketing teamWork through the design process brainstorming, ideation, and creating presentation materials to execute products to completionThink strategically; envision how each product segment compliments the broader Mattel portfolio and stands apart from the competitive setEfficiently manage and deliver multiple projects on scheduleFunction as a brand steward to ensure standards are maintained with our cross-functional teams and external partnersEmbrace a show-to-shelf ideologyTake a strategic approach to address challenges and create solutionsWork with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback on our work and our processes to ensure the project aligns with expectationsTake personal accountability and collaborate positively with team members and all cross functional business partnersMaintain a self-motivated approach with a consistently positive attitude

What We’re Looking For:5-7 years of design experienceAdobe Creative Suite proficiency and 2D computer programsStrong written and verbal communications skillsKnowledge of material and manufacturing processAbility to work autonomously and in a team environmentAbility to project manage, set priorities and execute projects at a high levelIdeal candidate will exhibit interest and knowledge of current toy and pop culture trendsUnderstanding of features and play patterns in the toy industryFamiliarity of 3D modeling is a plusPortfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving

The annual base salary range for this position is between $94,400.00 and $133,000.00. This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
