Making sure you fit the guidelines as an applicant for this role is essential, please read the below carefully.The team produces Young Post and Posties, two weekly publications for Hong Kong students that aim to promote critical thinking, improve English proficiency, and inspire new ideas.Purpose of the Position:We are seeking a talented, experienced, and passionate Production Editor to generate stories mainly for Young Post readers.In this role, you will:Edit, fact-check, rewrite, and improve raw copy from Young Post reporters and readers, or news services.Adapt stories from City Desk with care and sensitivity, ensuring copy is free from errors and strikes the right tone for Young Post readers.Inspect elements for print or online for quality/placement, design, legality, and taste.Edit video and create or check subtitles.Keep abreast of current affairs, both locally and internationally.Manage newsletters and one or two reader-engagement pages a week.Write original content and contribute to ideas for content packages.Skills and Experience that will lead to success:Degree holder in English, media & communication, liberal arts, or IT-related sciences, or relevant experience in teaching or journalism.At least 2 years of relevant experience in copy-editing in newspapers or magazines, ideally those produced for youngsters.A youthful disposition and interest in teen trends, with a good understanding of the needs and aspirations of teenagers.Ability to craft SEO heads and social media headlines that will boost traffic.An active and engaged team player, with excellent English subbing skills and zero tolerance for grammatical errors, spelling, and improper story structure, along with attention to detail.Ability to work closely with multimedia and video teams; ability to edit and adapt copy to suit various products and platforms.Work location will be at the Causeway Bay office.
