As the Vice President for External Communications for Payments, you will support both proactive and reactive external communications efforts that help showcase Chase’s payments business while helping to protect the reputation of the firm. Reporting to the Head of Functional Communications, you will work closely with leaders in our payments business and colleagues in Chase’s Connected Commerce business and across Chase’s internal and external communications teams to amplify key messages with consumers, customers and employees. In addition, you will play a key role in supporting crisis communications and reputation management efforts, partnering closely with the firm’s public affairs, government relations, regulatory affairs, regional PR, legal teams and others.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead both proactive and reactive communications efforts for payments at Chase

Develop and deliver clear and concise audience-first communications

Represent the firm in communications working groups for payments with key external partners

Lead connectivity and collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders and partners in our payments, government relations, regulatory affairs, and legal on issues impacting or payments business

Interact with PR agencies and vendors to support communications efforts

Draft talking points, briefing documents, bylines and other written materials, as needed

Conduct research and help track down facts in close collaboration with internal teams

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

7+ years of relevant external communications experience in a large, matrixed organization or within a PR agency

Proven experience with reputation management or crisis communications

Familiarity with tech, digital payments and other relevant media publications, blogs and opinion makers

Excellent presentation and writing skills

Experience working cross-functionally and collaborating with team members across business and staff areas at all levels to achieve goals

Experience interacting and building relationships with journalists to provide accurate and timely information

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple assignments and priorities

Team player with an enthusiastic attitude and entrepreneurial spirit who is eager to learn, contribute and make an impact

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

Experience working within the payments industry

Experience in crisis communications, including managing issues impacting customers
