The UCLA Division of Graduate Education (DGE) oversees policies for academic and professional graduate degree programs (excluding the MD, DDS, JD, ScD and LLM degrees) and is comprised of the following academic units: Academic and Postdoctoral Services (APS); Fellowships and Financial Services (FFS); Diversity, Inclusion and Admissions (FFS); and Graduate and Postdoctoral Support (GPS). These units handle recruitment, admissions, financial support, policies and procedures, and student academic success, while other DGE units manage internal operational needs, such as Information Technology (IT), Operations and External Relations (OER), including Communications; Budget and Personnel (B&P); and Institutional Research (IR). All units work together to support over 12,000 students across 130 academic programs and to promote successful degree progress in graduate education. This comprehensive approach ensures academic excellence, student diversity and prepares students to make significant contributions worldwide.Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Strategic Communication s (AD), the Communications and Marketing Coordinator (CMC) supports the Division of Graduate Education's (DGE) goal of providing relevant content to and creating connections with the UCLA community and beyond. The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will provide support for graphic design, social media strategy and engagement, and event communications, as well as other communication and marketing needs across the DGE. Major duties will include: developing, designing and archiving communication assets including flyers, brochures, programs, training materials and other publication materials; collaborating with unit subject matter experts (SMEs) on DGE communications; developing and overseeing social media activity across all platforms; and event communication design and execution. The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will execute centralized timelines for content creation, compilation, and distribution of DGE communication deliverables, across a variety of platforms including websites, social media, and Slate, in collaboration with unit leads and other SMEs.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including active listening, technical writing, and editing; experience writing purposeful, accurate, logical, succinct and tone-sensitive prose for business correspondence, reports, websites, and outreach materials. (Required) Demonstrated experience using digital communication tools and social media platforms such as Slack, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Slate CRM and Constant Contact (Required) Demonstrated experience using graphic design and editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva. (Required) Working knowledge of Wordpress and other web content management systems. (Can be trained) (Required) Demonstrated ability to manage projects by prioritizing assignments in order to perform effectively under conditions of frequent interruptions, multiple constituent demands, fluctuating workloads, and conflicting time demands. (Required) Working knowledge of communication and marketing tracking analytic tools such as Google Analytics. (Can be trained) (Required) Ability to engage effectively with persons of varied social, cultural, demographic and economic backgrounds, and to handle sensitive situations through effective listening, negotiation, diplomacy and persuasion. (Required) Skill in analyzing information, problem solving, and formulating conclusions and action plans based on observed patterns. (Required) Highly skilled in using business software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) for correspondence, spreadsheets, presentations, schedules, queries, and forms. Bachelor's Degree Degree from accredited 4-year institution or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. (Required)Bachelor's Degree Degree in Communication or related field (Preferred)
