The Job:

Buildertrend is looking for a Product Designer to work with us on our project management software for home builders and remodelers. Product Designers at Buildertrend design product solutions for defined problems, pulling from existing knowledge and doing specific user research to better define the problem space and solution. Currently, this role would be concentrated in our Financial Services area, and you will play a pivotal role in designing solutions that streamline payments and enhance value, providing financial services to the residential construction industry. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our platform not only meets but exceeds the financial management needs of our users. Our Designers embrace conflict over comfort, are flexible but persistent, work closely with their product partners, default to action, and own a perspective. As part of our team, you will partner with other designers, your product design manager and design lead, product managers, developers, and other cross-functional partners.

As a Product Designer, you will:

Work closely with your product manager and developer(s) to create solutions for our users.

Conduct user research with BT customers to investigate gaps in understanding and inform design decisions.

Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and financial experts to identify and solve complex problems in the fintech space.

Create right-sized solutions based on user research, business needs, and requirements.

Validate solutions through prototyping and other research activities.

Support developers in pragmatically addressing challenges during implementation.

Refine solutions iteratively after release through user feedback.

Work with Lead Designer and Product Manager to understand our experience vision, understand feedback on work, and to grow your design skillset - hard and soft skills.

Be an active and contributing member of the Product Design team, sharing your work for feedback and review and helping your team with your feedback and reviews on their work.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field experience.

3+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio featuring design work in financial services or fintech.

Proficiency with Figma or other design tools.

Experience in user research techniques including user interviews and usability testing.

Ability to effectively communicate research results and design decisions.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.

Experience with a variety of UX design deliverables including rapid prototypes, user stories, concept sketches, storyboards, information architecture, interaction design, interface (UI) design, visual design, and infographics.

Excellent communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with payment processing, insurance, lending, or other financial services products.
