In this role, you will work with a Design Principal and Project Manager developing architectural design concepts, presentations, and documentation in a manner that is responsive to the client's needs, budget, and deadlines, consistent with the company's architectural procedures, standards and quality expectations, on Healthcare, Institutional, and/or Corporate projects.
The firm has 11 offices all around the world focusing on healthcare, arts and culture, community, corporate, education, and government projects. Recently, the firm won the prestigious American Architecture Award for Museums and Cultural Building, along with IIDA Healthcare Design Award.
You’ll be working in a flexible hybrid environment where you’ll decide in consultation with your project teams where you’ll need to be working when – with a mix of working in office, at a client site and working from home.
Responsibilities
Develop a thorough understanding of projects’ design philosophy and provide major input in developing a design and building performance strategy and effectively convey this to assigned team members when appropriate.
Provide technical design input and support for the development of the entire design concept. Responsible for a project’s technical design effort, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination and quality control efforts during all phases of project work, in close collaboration with Senior Designer.
Seek creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develops appropriate research and documents to support these solutions.
Actively collaborate with and coordinate work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated, and support the design concept and performance goals of the project.
Contribute to the preparation of design documents and leads the detailed development of construction documents during all project phases, delivering complete, accurate and coordinated project documentation.
Advance the production of schematic, design development and construction documents drawings and specifications in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost, and design intent.
Maintain awareness of evolving building technology and systems.
Review shop drawings, material samples and CD’s for conformance with design.
Perform construction administration duties (e.g., RFI’s, RFP’s, change orders, etc.)
Prepare reports and specifications; reviews completed reports, plans, cost estimates and calculations.
Execute applicable agency review analysis (accessibility, zoning, life-safety, etc.)
Establish architectural budget, task schedule and other components of the project work plan in collaboration with Project Manager.
Implement meeting objectives, facilitates meetings, and provides meeting notes documentation.
Maintain contact with clients, consultants, and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing, client and owner presentations as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Master’s degree preferred.
LEED accreditation preferred.
This position requires 5-15 + years’ experience includes working on small- to large-scale project types.
Strong graphics skills are essential.
Knowledge of Revit, 3D Max, SketchUp and other industry accepted software as well as expertise with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite products is needed.
