We support Capital One's 15K+ developer community with the platforms, tools, services & support they need to thrive.In this role as Sr Director, Head of Tech Writing & Documentation, you will champion the documentation experience for developers using our Enterprise platforms. You will manage a large team of tech writers, set Enterprise standards for high-quality technical content, and develop customer-backed product strategy for documentation platforms & experiences. You will serve as the leader and subject matter expert on technical writing processes, practices, and standards. You will use data to measure effectiveness, installing necessary benchmarks and feedback channels. You will educate others on technical writing best practices and gain buy-in from key stakeholders regarding documentation experiences, processes, and interaction models with customers.This individual will have demonstrated in past roles that they can lead Technical Writing teams and effectively set strategy for technical writing processes & experiences. This individual must be able to effectively communicate and influence partners across the company and across multiple levels of the organization. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic agile environment are essential to succeeding in this role. This individual must display strong leadership skills and be able to drive and motivate a team in delivering flawless execution of projects.Responsibilities:

Set and align Enterprise stakeholders on a customer and destination-backed vision for Capital One's Enterprise documentation and knowledge management platforms.Lead a large size tech writing team to support the most important enterprise documentation projects & needs.Design, develop, and manage technical writing & documentation process initiatives in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements.Partner cross-functionally with clients to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive results.Build relationships and collaborate with key enterprise stakeholders to align objectives and plans, and transparently share progress and insights.Serve as a subject matter expert on technical writing and documentation experiences across the enterprise.Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or military experience.At least 8 years of experience in Technical Writing.At least 5 years of experience in People Management.Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Information Management, Process Management, Systems Engineering, Management, Business or Business Administration (MBA) or related fields.10+ years of experience in People Management for Technical Writing & Knowledge Management teams.5+ years of experience owning outcomes and experiences for enterprise documentation platforms in the domain of enterprise software.At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.This role is expected to accept applications for a minimum of 5 business days.
